Mission Models Paint Cross Reference?

My local hobby shop (which I'm a huge fan of supporting) has a lot of difficulty getting Vallejo Air paints due to supplier volume requirements.  In short, they can't any longer.  I know there are places online too, but local is my first choice.  With that in mind, they have now been stocking Mission Models paints which I hear very good things and would like to give a try.

1970s Era Piggyback

Trying to find information about 1960s-1970s era tofc or “piggyback” operations.

One question I had is what customers would take delivery of the railroad owned truck trailers?  For example, growing up in the 1970s, I never saw a railroad owned truck trailer roaming the streets or at a loading dock of a store.

Any information or links are appreciated.

Short lines of the early 1980s

Good morning,

As I develop a plan before I start to build a model railroad one direction I find myself being pulled towards is the free lance short line game.

Today we see these start ups and one off short lines being documented on many forms of media, but 40 years ago it seems to be a little more difficult to find these small sometimes just a few customer lines.

Keep-Alives in N scale

I have been following the development of KAs in HO scale with interest over the last couple of years, whilst discounting it for the time being in my N scale sound locos.

But what is the latest situation for N scale? Anything new out there that now makes it more of a feasible option?

Thanks

John

Plastic Extrusion Factories - Time Line

Hi all,

Looking to narrow down a time from for when rail served extrusion facilities started to become common?

I know its a very common sight on todays short lines, etc.

ISO "Small Railroads you can Build"

Does anyone have a copy of this laying around?

If you're not using it, would you be willing to give it away?

I would be interested.

steel building offer

I guess it's ok to post this as the a) I'm not affiliated with the guy making the offer and b) it's not a potential advertiser. But if not, apologies and delete please.
