SMD 0603 And LED drivers
Dumb question with 0603 SMD... I keep burning them out using CL2N3 LED drivers. Are at least that seems to be the case when I breadboard the circuit and apply 14 volts. Same circuit with 5mm LEDs and CL2N3 drivers and it works just fine.
EDIT:
Come to find out the magnet wire is just "loose" in the bread board vs a tight fit with the regular LED's.
Tools, tips and tricks
I have found that a very good cleaning fluid for my airbrush, available at Michael's, Hobby Lobby, and art supplies lick Dick Blick. It is a "Brush Restorer and Conditioner". It's main use is to restore unusable brushes with dried paint. Although a bit pricey, it has no odor and will work with both acrylic AND solvent based paints. I first run clean thinner appropriate to the paint and finish with the "Conditioner" that works exceptionally well to dislodge pesky dried acrylic residue.
Derailer...
I’ve been looking for info re: when the use of a derail on a siding originated. Haven’t found anything specific
were they in use in the early 1960s?

Switching the GE plant at JA Tower
Usually in the early morning, the Erie yard job at JA Tower can be found switching the the GE Compressor Plant on my Central New York and New England (CNY&NE) Railroad on the East end of my Northfork Yard. The structure is only 5 inches deep and has 2 staging tracks running inside of it. They run the length of the yard holding trains for a connecting branchline. It was built using a custom blend of City Classic modular warehouse components with lots of roof details.

Weekly Photo Fun - May 16-22, 2021
It's another week . . . post 'em if you got 'em.
ESU Status
Would anyone know the current operational status of the North American office of ESU?
I may just be choosing the wrong windows of availability, but over a period of 3 weeks I have not been able to get a response to emails, nor been able to join the ESU forum; and phone calls have only told me that no one is available and I should try again later.

Unbelieable Modeling in Many Scales,....lots of photos
This is a very long subject thread on another forum. The photos of this gentleman's work is just unbelievable.
I've referenced this page where he discusses Z scale work he has done. Imagine this sort of detail in Z scale !!!
Lazy Paint Scheme Justification
I'm a big fan of Santa Fe's paint scheme but I'm also a fan of modeling from the 90's through current. Since this scheme ceased to exist around 1975 or so, I could go the easy route and just say my railroad so whatever but I would like a better story than that. Is this a matter of "patching out" the Santa Fe on each side or should I leave it alone? I have two Proto GP30's, an Athearn GP35 in the scheme, and I have my eye on those Scale Trains SD45's which admittedly too big for what I could do in my space.
Kato
Is Kato pretty much done building HO Locos? I don't see much to pick from. They appear to be concentrating in N scale. Always thought they were smooth runners.
Drone Camera for "in cab" view?
Hey All,
Has anyone experimented with using a drone camera on a flat to get a track level view of your layout? I have a prototype working, but the range and heat are horrible, so haven't tried to put in on a flat yet..
The Camera itself seems to give me a pretty good picture when the transmitter and receiver are within 10 feet or so, but once I put anything in between (ie. going through a tunnel or a few bodies in the layout room) the picture quality goes downhill pretty quick.
