A question of Scale

I ran across this absolutely delightful essay on modeling scale by Eloise Davies which is worth sharing.....

It's another week . . . post 'em if you got 'em.  There were a few late-comers in last week's post.  Check them out, then come back here afterward.

Not often that you can spot this kind of machinery from the end of your driveway!

Thoughts on the experience so far for those that have registered?

Please refrain from NMRA bashing, if you are attending what are your thoughts?

Paint Lists

I am wondering if anyone has a spreadsheet list of Vallejo Model Air or Model Color Paints?  I want to create a chart i can take with me on my phone (IPhone) so I don’t buy colors I already have.

And while I COULD type it in myself I would rather not duplicate effort.

How do the electroluminescent (EL) displays work?

Some of you may be familiar with Miller Engineering animated signs; they use an electroluminescent (EL) display, controlled by a small board they provide and then typically powered by a 4.5 V DC power supply or 3xAAA batteries.

The board is called an inverted I believe, and it features an obvious transformer. When they run they make a typical high frequency noise.

Purely out of curiosity, I'm trying to figure what's the tech behind it, and I'm not finding much info.

July '21 Rail Modeller Australia is here

Hi All,
Pardon my tardiness informing you all but Rail Modeller Australia 8th issue is about  http://www.railmodelleraustralia.com/ for download - hope all of you downloading it would consider contributing $1 or so towards the costs of producing it! It's not much but it does add up and helps our fellow club member Robyn keep it going!

Enjoy the read,

Trevor

Semi trucks/trailers of the late 70's and early 80's

I'm looking to model New England in the late 70's to early 80's, and I'm having a hard time finding information on what types of semi trucks and trailers would be appropriate for that era.

I know that trailer lengths were first mandated federally in 1983, when the maximum trailer length nationwide was set at 48', but I can't find a whole lot of information on trailer sizes prior to that.
