Cleaning Magnifier Lens

I have a desk top magnifier that the lens really needs a wash job. I have used one of those eye glass cleaning cloths on it and that helped, but it needs something more to get years of crud off. I have a cloth bag to cover it with, but that is a new addition.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

Proto 2000 Motor Removal

Can someone tell me how to remove the motor from a Proto 2000? Do you have to push the four nubs of the isolation pad up from the underside of the frame,or can you pry the motor up? I don't want to destroy the isolation pad trying to figure it out.

What paint to use to match B&LE and P&CD colors

I am trying to figure out what would be the best matches for the orange and black of the Bessemer & Lake Erie RR and the yellow and black of the Pittsburgh & Conneaut Dock Co. I am wanting to use acrylics for this. I have downloaded the guide from MRH but I did not see the orange or yellow listed. I am in the planning stages of my layout, but have 12 of the locomotives already and need about 20 that will need to be painted. I am modeling the late seventies and early eighties. Thanks Gregg

Steam Engine Travel Case

I had just finished a DCC Sound install on my first brass steam engine and arrived early at an ops session to show it off.  I got permission to put it on the layout and what happens?

Jordan spreader flatcar load

I bought a Jordan spreader, intending to use it as a flatcar load. But was wondering if this is the way they would transport it over long distance? It doesn't seem  they would put it in a general freight and send it cross country. Anyone have any informsation on how this was done? Any pictures?

Thank you

How to trigger audio based on fast clock?

How can I trigger audio tracks to play automatically at certain fast clock times? I’m open to using any fast clock system that can assist with this.

For example:

I have a passenger train with a scheduled station stop at 11:00am. I want a pre-recorded message to automatically play at 10:50am (fast clock time) announcing the details of this passenger train.

Thanks in in advance for your insights on how to automate this.

Railfanning on the Carrollton OH branch

Good evening all,

After receiving some good advice about shooting and posting video, it was time to go to "work". My friend, John, invited me over for some switching operation on his Nickle Plate based layout.  Here are a couple of "railfan" videos.

Blog rant changed to Who really owns the "information"?

I think we should have a community discussion on the "ownership" of the information on this site.

There's lots of ways to look at it so I'm just hoping to get the ball rolling with a few of my personal observations.

This is the best model railroading forum on the internet for a wide range of topics.

Many talented/skilled people contribute information that benefits the community as a whole.

That information has been compromised more than once.
