In today’s episode of On the Workbench, I am going to show you some of my upcoming projects and new video ideas and I would like to receive some feedback as to which videos you would like me to create first.
Need advice for future project once I level my scale modelling skills.
Hello everyone,
This is my first post, and decided to join the forums after hearing about the magazine. I am a beginner in the hobby after my interest was rejuvenated so I am starting out by assembling model freight car kits and figuring out where to go next.
Inexpensive work light
I found a real bargain for a small portable work light. It is made from the "heart" of the DeWalt DCL040 work light - the LED lamp with hood and built in parabolic reflector.
Details in following post.
From the ISE Workbench - Train Shuttle Controller
A bit over four years ago, we put together something called the “DCC auto-reverser” out of an Arduino, an LCD shield, and a motor shield. We designed it for the St. Louis Railway Prototype Modelers’ meet to just operate a train back and forth on our short test track, stopping and reversing the engine when it tripped a sensor at either end. We wrote up the build so that others could make their own, built one for Scott Thornton and his Milan Branch layout, and that was that.
Looking for a large, thin, flat screen
Good morning MRH'rs,
I am looking for some suggestions from the model railroading collective...
For a current modeling project, I am looking for a larger format, thin monitor. Specifically, I am looking for a screen that is about the size of a standard 27" monitor but is as thin as an iPad.
My constraints are: no restriction on width (in fact the wider the better), no more that 19 1/2" tall, and 1" or less thick.

Recommendations for achieving consistent miter joints on sheet plastic?
I'm trying to figure out what methods and tools to use to create quality, consistent miter joints on plastic (molded corrugated) sheets for a scratch build structure. Cutting the 45 degree miter is beyond me and I need some input.
Thanks in advance.
It's going to be one of several grain elevator/feed mill structures I'm working on using existing prototype designs.
Bullfrog Madness!
This is my yard throat, and the lead to the service area. The turnouts are all Fast Tracks, and I'm using their Bullfrog system to control them.
Some Thoughts About DCC Decoder Installation
In addition to Jason Miller’s excellent article in this month’s Running Extra, I’d like to add another avenue of shared expertise. This weekend SoundTraxx announced their 8 function 21-pin DCC decoder and just recently ESU announced their new non-sound DCC Decoders. I follow the YouTube and have watched decoder installations fairly critically.
Battery Powered Airbrush
I have no direct experience with
,
however it looks useful. I followed his Amazon link, but it's sold out. Very similar items were offered as alternatives, all in the $60-$70 range.
