Building plan eBook size
I am wondering how large the 2 structure ebooks PDF files are. I currently have no house internet and I use my phone for web access. I would like to take advantage of the special price for both ebooks but need to make sure I can download to my phone so I can then transfer them to my computer. Any help in this is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys
Layout Update: July 2015 - Main/Third Level DCC Testing Results
I finally completed the wiring for the 4th power district on the main level/third level. This is the track that runs from Michaelson Jct. (aka Ottawa Jct., KS) both to the West Helix and on the branch line that runs over the top of the West Helix to the third level that has the cities of Michaelson (aka Ottawa, KS) and then to Elizabeth City, OK (aka Tulsa, OK).
Great Working Homemade Track Cleaning Car
I was trying to come up with a good track cleaning design and here it is. It uses a freight car (boxcar or tall covered ones best), a cleaning cloth, small piece of wood or similar and nails/screws. To use it you simply wet the pad with your preferred cleaner and off you go and it can easily be added to a train.
Building:(Sorry no photos) To start out you find a good sized base and drill holes in your car base to line up with that. Through those holes you place screws and into the wood. Mounting the cloth can be done in many ways and two are shown.

Setting Up JMRI and and using the Bachrus MTS-DCC to speed match locomotives
After doing the podcast on A Modelers Life JMRI month I got a few questions on setting JMRI and speed matching my locomotive. So i did a video on setting up JMRI DecoderPro and Using the Bachrus MTS-DCC to speed match my locomotive. I use Excel for the grafting. I hope this is helpful for those of you trying to get this set up.
I am setting the follow standers for my locomotive:
Yard switchers top speed 35 mph
Freight Loco top speed 55mph
Passenger Loco top speed 65mph
Favorite soldering products
With all the various types/brands of solder, flux and cleaning products available, what are peoples favorite brands of each? Please discuss but differentiate between soldering track and electrical connections from soldering brass models and locomotives. Or any other situation in which you had to resort to solder...
If you want to include comments on specific soldering tools you have come to know and love, please add commentary on this too. I have a resistance soldering unit I have yet to learn how to use correctly so...

Power Supply Cradle from PDC.ca - for Railpro and more!
I kinda' hate power bricks. They are always a pain to keep tidy and to mount.
Depending how you truss them up, they are difficult to remove later too.
Faced with mounting yet another power brick, this time for my RailPro system, I came up with a tidy little mount that allows you to easily slide the brick in and out with no other tools.
Available now from PDC at $14.50 including shipping in the US or Canada...
