How to: Color materials for a scrap pile (or other uses)
If you've been following along with the progress on my Klemptner Bros salvage yard you will see that I've just installed the scrap metal pile. Member Rick Reimer (ON30guy) asked how I colored the scrap so I thought that I would share my process. I will say that I arrived at this process through experimentation so much of my scrap ended up being scrapped!
Here's a shot of the pile of scrap:

New Switching area on the CNW Peninsula Div.
I am going to use this thread to show the building of a new switching area I am adding to my CNW Peninsula Div. These pics will show the the basic foot print of the new area which is 4' x 11' overall.
More will follow as I get going.

Thinning Vallejo Model Air For Weathering
I attended Joe's presentation in Indianapolis and downloaded and read his acrylic painting guide. I've gotten myself stopper bottles and mixed up Joe's High Performance Thinner. I've had success airbrushing Vallejo Model Air straight from the bottle.
Now I'd like to do some weathering, a more transparent finish. Any suggestions on thinning Vallejo Model Air and air pressure to spray? I'm using a Paashe Model H.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Control the World with Simple Logic Circuits
The model railroad hobby is full of gadgets that are fun to control-- motors, lights, turnout motors. It is also full of contraptions that can control them ranging from crude to sophisticated-- manual switches, detectors, computer boards. Whenever I have to connect a control contraption to a gadget, I have to pause. How do these things connect together? This is not a trivial consideration. It is often possible to damage, even destroy either or both by making the wrong choice.

Domino Sugar in Chalmette Louisiana
Does anyone have information or photos of the Domino Sugar Refinery in Chalmette, Lousiana? A track diagram or switching layout would be particularly appreciated.
Thanks,

Algoma Central Passenger Equipment Builds
As a smaller regional railway running through mostly undeveloped wilderness territory, the Algoma Central Railway had an interesting passenger car fleet consisting of secondhand equipment from multiple other roads.
With a regular passenger service running over the 295 mile length of the railway as well as a popular and well-patronized tourist train to a railway-developed park in the scenic Agawa Canyon (only accessible by rail), there was a pretty large and varied collection of coach cars on the roster.
