MRC Sound Decoder Athearn Genesis Challenger
I know, I know, there are lots of MRC haterz out there. But free is free. A friend gave me an MRC steam sound decoder out of an Athearn Genesis Challenger. Someone else gave it to him but he has nothing to put it in. I have a lead on an old Rivarossi Big Boy, so I thought it might work for that, but I ran into a snag: I hooked it up to a test station, but the sound doesn't seem to work.
Corrugated fence, Pt3 and a Heritage sighting
More work on the corrugated fence and caught a Heritage unit over the weekend.
The Affordable 3D printer
There's been a few posts lately about 3D printing, and being a devoted user for my own work, I want to show you the printer I found this past summer.
Operational Mishap
Now that the track and wiring on my N&W Pocahontas District are completed I couldn't resist having a friend over for the first operating session. For better or worse, my friend has very little knowledge about real trains, or even model railroads, but he's shown interest in the layout, so I thought I'd give him a try.

Colorado Front Range - October update running the trains and a cab ride on the layout
Running Some Trains And Layout Tour
Running Some Trains And Layout Tour
Is this overkill for a branchline terminus?
Is it more prototypical to have a track to the turntable coming from the mainline instead of the runaround track?

Santa Fe yard mid 70s to late 90s - Building ideas needed
We are building the edge of Industrial town and a small piggy back yard for containers (think that is what it is called). On the front gray part near the control box. What we are after is a few ideas, photos of some industries or just general ideas on what might work. I have a cornerstone pallet loader to go near the closet gray building and am scratch building a boxcar drive in factory for this end. near bridge. The backdrop is to get some more layers on it then one of the club members who is a wiz with the airbrush art will spray in some awesome trees.
I give you the HO scale SW1001
Hello, I'd like to show a product I hope to get out to all those that were looking for this, an HO SW1001. I give you the RDG/CR/NS/CSXT version of the SW1001. Two shell types are available, one with the radiator open(to use etched metal for this) and one without. The photos are of the one with the non open radiator areas. Thoughts?
