New Boards for the S&NE

Further issues with my arthritis have caused me to dismantle the layout that I was building on the kitchen units. There were two problems with it. Basically, the return curves were too tight and I was getting a lot of issues with stock coming off the track. Secondly, it required that I stand up to build the railroad and also to do the switching.

Anyone ever made a "Post Rock" fence?

I want to create an HO scale "post rock" barbed wire fence. Has anyone attempted such a thing in any scale?

In the late 1800's limestone fence posts were used in Central Kansas because there was almost no wood available. Some of these fences exist today. I see the post rocks as an iconic feature of the region.

You can Google "Post Rock Kansas" and find pictures and information on this kind of fencing.

Wood+Foam= Fun,Fun,Fun!!

Well he are once again with some more ramblings and pictures.

First off let me say that I knew these sections would have to be transported here, there and everywhere. ( once I started doing shows). So I made sure that I used top quality materials.

Help removing weathering from ME code 70 track?

HI, I recently laid some ME weathered code 70 track. I was wondering what people used to clean off the weathering from the tops of the rail without scratching it?

Thanks,

Martin

Up-Date, The great Puff Ball Debate

Scenery Up-date Puff Ball Debate

Here is some up-dated scenery.... I wasn't liking the Puff Ball look so I switched over to Woodland Scenics Clump Foliage (see previous post). That too, didn't create the look I wanted. So here is my latest attempt.

In need of some good ideas

Hello again all. As some of you may know, I will be retiring and moving shortly, so I have been re-designing what hopefully will be my last railroad. The entire layout will be 32" off the floor as I have difficulty standing for long periods of time so this will be a roll around railroad. The benchwork will all be 1" x 4" with inch and a half foam as the sub roadbed. My plan is to build this in sections, probably 4' long. I will lay the track and do the wiring at the workbench and then set the section in place.

ESU ECoS 50210 DCC System

Good evening folks,

I am wondering if anyone has or has used a ESU Lok Sound ECoS unit to control their trains.  I am wondering if you like it, your thoughts, or if anyone has one, and their impressions of it

Mascoutin Valley Railroad - From the Ground Up

A couple of people have been asking about the background for my model railroad so I'd figure I'd share it.  I wrote it over a year ago and the basic concept have stayed the same.   I'm going to add some edits of what is happening now

I originally posted this under my blog at blogspot you can find here:

SP Caboose 374

I was at the Orange Empire RR Museum in Perris CA, and I noticed a SP caboose. I thought I would share it with the SP fans. I am not sure what about the history of this caboose or what years it ran. I thought it would be a good reference for weathering.
