Rolling Stock where to find out what has run on the prototype
I model Santa fe BNSF per merger and a little into it. is there a searchable database where you can find out what engines and freight cars were run over the line i am modeling.
OR is this something i should start to put together the Wikipedia of freight cars and where and who used them :)
This came up as i saw some awesome coal hoppers at the right price but was unsure if they ran on the BNSF.
Litter
I'm trying to find out what would be typical litter seen in the mid nineteen-fifties especially around a team track or even near a depot.
Has anyone made litter in HO scale?

Short in engine?
I am trying to put a decoder in an Athearn RTR S 3. It is very tight and I am afraid that in trying to get the shell down over the engine I have caused a short somehow. Here's what has happened. I have installed 2 decoders -- one Digitrax and Tsunami. After installing the decoder, when I put the engine on the track and apply power 2 things have happened. With the digitrax there was a "ptz" sound that I associate with a short. Digitrax confirmed I shorted their decoder.

Feedback on Track design - operational prototype/freelance
Hi all
I have been drawing so many plans lately that I'm starting to go round in circles (no pun intended)
So looking for a bit of feedback on the below designs, N scale, Montana modern era, was very prototypical in version 1 but now its a lot more freelance
Industries will be: Coal, Fuel/oil, grain, Timber, sugar beets, and maybe a bit of produce and maybe others.
tell me what you think or would change
The bottom one has slot track but that is just road.

New workspace
Finally carved out a niche for my own work space. The tiny corner of my basement that I'd been using as my music room has a nice sunlit egress window that provides me light and somewhere to vent spray booth fumes, as well as nice ceiling recessed can lights for after dark. My wife decided to redo the corner of the family room that holds all her photography stuff, which made available a nicely sized piece of countertop with a backsplash. And the recent acquisition of a new bookshelf for the bedroom made two smaller bookshelves available as bases.

Walthers Cantilivers with a switch
Hi there, I have the two Walthers cantilever crossing signals for my grade crossing. The idea is manual operation via an on/off switch. No train detection in either direction and across three tracks operated.
Here is the grade crossing in question:
