Switching power supply DOA - chance to learn.
Hello,
I've kept a 12 volt switching power supply that I want to use to light my layout area. It is one of three. It was DOA, the other two worked and I thought worst case I'd get a parts box.... and maybe a little time on the learning curve.

Rebuilding GP7R-2
Just a quick couple of photos of a rebuild I'm working on!

How to use an Arduino to control Tortoise switch motors
OK, here is the deal …..
I have 2 turnouts that I want to control automatically so that human error is taken out of the equation.
Basically I have a condition where the train entering one turnout will determine the position of the second turnout. The sequence of operation is as follows (see schematic for turnout location and positions)

IAIS's West End - A Ready-to-Run SD20 Kitbash
Three years ago, my friend Ole Pade from Sweden completed an outstanding kitbash of IAIS SD20 103 based on an Atlas SD24. The prototype 103 had long been a favorite of mine since I once had a chance to spend some time in the cab way back when, but I'd never gotten around to modeling it, so I half-jokingly asked Ole to please give me first dibs if he ever decided to sell his model.
SD35 a Poor Puller
A few years ago I bought an HO Atlas SD35, but couldn't run it until just recently, when I finally installed an ESU LokSound decoder it. Once the installation was done I was pumped to try out my "new" loco, and was very pleased until I tried to pull a string of twelve cars up a grade that's a little less than 2%.
Stripped coupler screws
As careful as I try to be, I've managed to strip a couple of coupler screws in two of my locos. Actually, the screws are just fine. The threaded plastic they screw into is the problem. I've always managed to figure some convoluted way to make things work, but was wondering what other more skilled folks do to deal with this issue.
Any input will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Let's see your scrapyard or Maint. shop
I havent had a chance to do much with my layout in over 2 years. My work schedule has been all over the board, and I havent had much time to enjoy life. I'm hoping you guys will post some pics of your scrapyard or maint. shops. I'm looking for inspiration for when my schedule eases up and I can get back into the train room
