LCC - it's not replacing DCC, it's adding to it.

I brought up LCC (Layout Command Control) in another thread and was asked by someone if they would have to replace all their decoders... in short, LCC is not replacing DCC.

Instead, LCC is a separate standard for doing things that DCC, which really has limited bandwidth, shouldn't be.

Allagash - Some recently weathered freight cars.

Hi guys and gals,

It has been a while since I've done much of anything on the railroad due to some personal/family issues. After a recent op. session, I took note of the number of un-weathered cars vs. weathered cars. Frighteningly in favor of un-weathered! I'll be doing this till the end of time.

Deadwood Theater under construction 1876

So i felt like sharing some of my modeling techniques. This is a prototype of the Deadwood Theater in Deadwood Gold camp, Dakota Territory June 15th 1876. At this time this building was under construction as you can see, the facade is not complete, when this is mounted on the diorama it will have a scaffolding in front with guys putting up the siding.

Cool helix design approach

Here’s a unique design for a helix made by Michael Petersen based on an original concept by Nathan Holmes:
