Sandwich Constructed Subroadbed Panels, Plywood Sheet Alternative

Sandwich Construction

I come from the boat industry where we utilized 'sandwich core construction' (fiberglass skins and foam/honeycomb) type constructions quite often to get stiff, lightweight skins/panels.

I was in a Lowes store yesterday just taking a quick look at plywood qualities and prices. Of course the cabinet grade plywoods looked the best, but were not very cheap.

Milk car converted by CN to Express baggage car

I came across this model made by Athearn. I'm trying to find out more info about this car and if this is a model prototypical for CN.

Any help would be appreciated.

Seems to be a hard model to find, they must have sold out this past summer.

Sources & Story of My Layout Idea

Tracks Across the Prairie

Auto Reverse and or Buss Line

I need a bit of help with my TOMA design. The layout is in three modules right now. The layout basically consists of two loops with a short connection track between the two. The two loops have some track that branches off from each.

1) Should auto reversing circuits be placed on the left module for each reversing loop that starts on this module?

2) Since there are multiple tracks branching from each loop, should a buss wire be used from the AR's and then feeder wires used to power the branching track?

Murray River Bridge new layout construction day 14.5 Laying the staging yard.

Hi All

so I laid the staging yard, it's first time I Had used exclusively PECO code 83 track, must say it's very easy to bend to shape and retains the curve to the point that I didn't need to use map pins to hold the track in place while the glue dried.

check out the video.

What is this little structure?

What I find interesting is that it is elevated.

Does this exist in a model?

I would so much like to add this to my collection.

We Are Moving Too...sigh

I mentioned in an earlier post that my father-in-law had died a few months back. My wife has been spending a lot of time with her mom helping her clean up and sort things out and the 2 of them and I agreed that she needs to move in with us. Which means we need a bigger place. So we are moving again.

Good thing about it is I should be able to end up with a dedicated train room. So we know how much we can spend and how big of a place we need. Packing begins tomorrow and with any luck we will sell this place quick. The size is much in demand, so keeping our fingers crossed.
