Murray River Bridge can I build a layout in 6 months?
So I have gave myself a challenge, can I build a layout in 6 months?
the layout size is 11ft by 24ft. It basically consists of a very long bridge, file footage of it in final construction.
i documented each day from day 10 onwards on YouTube.
Given that I have a full time job and a family I started this layout on the 18th of April 2017.
Great Northern Simplified Patch and Paint Match
Hi everyone,
I am doing a BN patch job with renumbering on a GN Athearn RTR GP-35. It is similar to the one below. My question is what is a good match for the GN simplified green? It always looked more brown to me but I do have some red/green colorblindness. Is there a color out there? Do I have to mix my own? I do not have an airbrush and was looking to see if anyone had experience here on doing color matched patches. By the way, the color does not have to be perfectly matched, considering 5 years of heavy use and the fact that it is a patch job.

What happened to Rob Paisley's wonderful website?
It was located at: http://home.cogeco.ca/~rpaisley4/CircuitIndex.html but no longer works!
Rob had accumulated a treasure trove of electronic circuits most of which were inclined towards model railroading applications. Those like me who had seen and/or built his circuits would realize what a tremendous resource it was.
Does anyone has an idea what happened to it and is there a possibility of it coming back online? Really hate to see it go...

Rail fastener consequences in a derailment
Some local derailment news today: a freight train coming through town on the UP main track had a derailment which rerailed itself. There were no major damages but the train was delayed and blocked some grade crossings for a couple hours, making motorists unhappy according to the online newspaper report which showed a photo looking across an empty center-beam flatcar at a grade crossing.
I went sightseeing on my bicycle to look for derailment evidence. The Madison Street crossing shows new flange marks, but the next crossing a couple blocks away does not.

Walthers 130' Turntable and DCC
I have a Walther's 130' Turntable that is DCC "ready". I will have to double check the instruction sheet as to adding DCC to it, but I was wondering if anyone has DCC-ed one of those turntables.

Building Project for the Weekend
Hot weather this past weekend prevented work on the layout, so being stuck inside I decided to cross off one of the scratch building projects that's on the to-do list.
The prototype is a Fry's Electronics store in Burbank, California, visible right from the main line. Here are some reference shots:
A proof of concept video
Having spent months planning, designing and redesigning, I feel like I have now gotten a railroad that I will enjoy building and will be a blast to run., This is a short video tour of what I hope it will look like.
