Mascoutin Valley Railroad layout update 009 - Track Down!
Hello Everyone!
This latest update on my railroad. We lay some track, clean the layout room and I share some purchases! Progress is slow, but we are making head way!
Check out my latest video! We even have a couple of run by's!
Let me know what you think!
Firecat Designs 3D Printed NSH90V Flat Car
Just thought I would post a photo of my recently completed National Steel Car NSH90V 89' flat car. The shell is 3D printed from Firecat Designs. It sits on a Walthers chassis, and the following have been added. Plano coupler cut bars, grab irons with bolt castings, underslung train line hoses, full brake gear, Kadee 100 ton trucks, Grandt Line stake pockets, cribbing with scratchbuilt brackets, home made decals, microscale TTX logo, and a BLMA models pipe load. Enjoy and have a great day.

DCC for Tomix N Scale Bullet Train
I recently become the proud owner of an N scale Tomix 92815 500 series Shikansen after lusting for one for literally years. Now I'm looking to install DCC in it - but my Google-fu is failing me. I can't seem to find where anyone else has installed DCC in this little gem. I know I'm going to need three decoders - one for the motor car, and one function-only decoder in each end for the lights. Does anyone have any experience or references for this?

Experience With Ambroid Snow Plow Kit?
Anyone have experience with the Ambroid HO scale snow plow kit. I have built the Ye Olde Huff and Puff transfer caboose kit so this will not be my first one but wanted to see if anyone had photosor any tips on surprises that came up while working on it. I am fairly certain all parts are accounted for too.
Thanks
Flex on Cork Louder than Plastic E-Z Track
I recently started a new layout. One of my goals in my new HO layout was to move away from plastic snap together Bachmann track to more realistic Code 83 flex track. As I'm more of an operations guy with limited skill set in preplanning design I loved E-Z Track as it was so easy to make changes. In my quest to be more realistic on my new layout I've spent more time planning as well as upgrading my benchwork and track. My current design is L girder topped with a 1/2" plywood base and then topped with a 1 1/2" thick pink plastic insulation sheathing.&
TIDX Tank Car
To All: Tidal Refining Company (TIDX) had a fleet of tank cars. This company was a manufacturer of motor oils and grease. I used an Athearn 40 tank car and Protoscale decals for the project. Photo by Elvin Howland. Yours, Elvin Howland/E. St. Louis Rail Group Layout.

Digitrax Sound Files
Okay, so... so far, I can only find three places to find Digitrax sound projects (the SPJ files... I have attempted to make my own, but that didn't work out in the least!)
The three places I've found are the Digitrax sound library, the Digitrax Yahoo group, and "https://groups.io/g/AnPRR".
Out of the three groups, I still haven't found something suitable for a 4-4-0 engine. (and before someone sends me the PDF that mentions the 0-4-0 at AnPRR, I would like to assure you, it hasn't been made yet... it's still a future project)

O.K Now i'm computerized and I need help
To my N scale layout, I have installed a small laptop (windows 7 and JMRI) connected to a Digitrax PR3 Xtra with its own PS 14, networked to a Digitrax DCS 210 command station. The Bachrus Speedo has been added to the system and ALL drivers and comm ports are properly set up. I am using the LocoNet 100 mode to program using a program track connected to the DCS 210.
I have 2 problems with this setup !!!
1. When I try to use the Bachrus spedo to set up the speed table, No power is sent to the program track. The train don't run. I get a flatline graph.

Craftsman Kit (Oscar) Sanding Sealer for wood
So, my Oscar arrived. I remember reading about the construction of Walthers passenger cars, particularly the shaping of the ends of the roof and using sanding sealer before painting the roof to get rid of wood grain. In the (very long) past I used model airplane dope to accomplish this. That is long gone for me so I am wondering what could be used now.
My search of the internet has revealed Minwax Sanding Sealer and Zinsser primer/sealer. The Minwax stuff is soap and water cleanup but the Zinsser stuff states it is a white tinted shellac.
