Sunset & North Eastern R.R. - extending the staging

Having finished with the routing software, I found that single line staging at both ends, although it seemed to be OK, wasn't going to work. I decided to make both staging to be double track. This involved the following:

  1. Purchasing 2 new switches

  2. Purchasing 2 extra switch motors

  3. Taking down the old track

Electricity, Turnouts and me

Hya,

after a long time, I finally decided to connect all the turnout motors to the DCC via Arduino (thanks to Geoff Bunza).

It took me nearly two years to convince myself to start this endeavour, as I hate anything to do with electricity. This kept me from doing anything on the model for nearly two years - the other long interruption was due to doing all the connections to turnouts and track several years ago (I am more a scenery person).

Loco for Locos!

Me:

"Doctor, it started harmlessly with me getting just one locomotive.....and then another.....and then another....and then another......  I can't seem to control myself even though I have a small layout I justify that I need more locos so I won't get bored seeing the same ones over and over."

Doctor:

Northen Pacific Yacolt Branch - A single track branch intechanging with logging lines.

I thought I would share the upper deck track plan for my NP Yacolt branch.

https://yacoltbranch.blogspot.com.au/

I plan to model the Northern Pacific Yacolt Branch in the 1930's incorporating the last half of the line from Homan to Yacolt. The upper deck of my layout will feature the end of the line Yacolt and its interchange with Murphy Lumber company.

Stupid DCC question...

Okay, so... I've been working with one of my Norris engines (the "Pegasus", though I could use my LaFayette if I have to... but they are identical either way)

I know they can be converted to DCC, because I've seen it done... and I do have some N scale decoders in the drawer (it seems "N" will fit better) but I haven't a clue what I'm doing, or how.

Metal Benchwork

This particular idea of mine was born in an evolutionary manner while figuring out how I was going to construct the shelves for my double-deck layout.

I have been considering both 1) thick foam,.... and 2) sheet plywood for the subroadbed on the bottom deck.

ESU 21 Pin Decoders

I'm no DCC expert but I try to learn and have a good foundation in electronics so this post is to convey some information that I figured out after some confusion and consternation.

OK Engines brand metal passenger cars

Is anyone familiar with OK Engines brand Metal Passenger cars? I seen them advertised in RMC and was wondering how detailed they are.
