CR&N in the 60s (or so)
This is my first post on my Coeur d'Alene Railway and Navigation (CR&N) layout, currently under construction in sunny West Texas. The layout (see attached plan) is 9 feet by 4.5 feet on two 18 inch shelves. I built the benchwork from 3/4 birch plywood and mounted it to the walls in my train room. I used 1 inch foam over 1.4 inch plywood for my decking. All the track is down, and most is ballasted. I have got some basic scenery roughed in, and have building low profile buildings for industries.

Gorre & Daphetid Viaduct
As previously posted, I am modeling John Allen's Gorre & Daphetid. I will not try to reproduce every blade of grass or even every structure. But I think that it is important to duplicate the two viaducts as close as possible. I have many pictures, but I'm not that good at estimating dimensions. Here is a good picture. I was first going to measure the track width, but realized that it is at an angle, so that would not work. Then I took a small freight car and measured from the ground to the top and it got about two inches. Comparing

Removing the cab from HO Bachmann Spectrum 50T Climax?
I just want to pull the cab off of a recent two-truck HO Bachmann Spectrum Climax. Removing the obvious two screws on the bottom loosens the cab but, it doesn't fall free! Something in there is hanging up! Bachmann's exploded parts diagram is of no use either.
Short of blindly disassembling the entire drivetrain to expose the boiler and frame screws, does anyone happen to know if there is in fact an simple way to remove the darn thing?
(Not real eager to give it a HARD yank!)

Free-Mo Modular Construction Help
I've been looking to get into Free-Mo since I don't have any spare space for an actual layout. When I Google the topic I can't find much except for finished modules and standards. I'm looking for some guidance on how to build the framework. My plan was to just build a basic 5ft long single track module with maybe an industry or just scenery, something pretty basic to see how it all works together. I've read that foam is known to sag so it's best to lay the track on a plywood subroadbed, what is the best way to brace the subroadbed and still allow foam for scenery vs just a flat table top?
Computer to DCC
I hope this dont start a big commotion...but I have a digitrax Zephyr, and few different computers running windows XP and Windows 7. What would be the best connection path for DCC to Computer for me to run Decoder Pro and dabble into the JMRI realm? I know digiteax makes items has a brand new 4 version box. I've seen sprog mentioned loco buffer. Is there one or any other way that stands out??

My Gorre & Daphetid Part 3: Cookie Cutter?
It’s now time to fish or cut bait. One of the reasons it took me so long to get started is I didn’t know whether to start with a flat table top and use Woodland Scenics (WS) incline/decline risers or do what John Allen did and use an L-girder type of construction. A third method was to start with a flat table top and do a Cookie Cutter (CC) approach. Here is a picture of my table top where you can see that I used a 1/4 scale picture with 12 inch squares to draw the plan on the bench. As I mentioned in my first blog, I liked the idea of a flat table top fo
New Bachmann N-Scale Sound Equipped 2-8-0
Got one these from MB Klein this afternoon.
From the diagram has the can motor like the 4-6-0.
My guesstimate is a 15mm diameter speaker facing downward in the tender.
Full Soundtraxx Economi with all the sounds.
Runs and sounds really great, am impressed.

Miniature Action Kayaking in White water
Hi! :) I was playing around with kit of figures from Noch and ended up with a nice action kayaking scene. Guess what? I made a video tutorial showing how the scene was set up. Enjoy!
