My Gorre & Daphetid Part 2: Benchwork
I built my benchwork on the following plan from Model Railroader. I also followed along with the YouTube video “Build a model train layout: Model railroad benchwork train table how to WGH”. The following posts will detail my methods.

My Gorre & Daphetid Part 1: Introduction
Call me crazy, but I am going to attempt to recreate John Allen’s original 3’ 7” by 6’ 8” Gorre & Daphetid. I have had two small layouts in the past. The first, a poorly modeled 4’ x 8’ that taught me a lot of lessons. The next, the 4’ x 6’ Gold Hill Central from Model Railroading. Alas and alack, I sold both when I moved twice.

Installing Atlas 2 part couplers in DCC GP38-2
Hello,
Atlas were nice enough to send me a replacement truck assembly for my new Trainman DCC GP38-2..unfortunately the rear truck was spinning.. Anyway in my trial and error of disassembling the body, which was no problem except for the mini tooled in screws under the fuel tank holding the chassis to the weight, I dremeled them out..voila problem solved. Locomotive runs as it should. :)

Sizable theft of railroad collection
Received the following text in an email from the PNR of the NMRA; given the breadth of coverage of MRH it occurred to me to post this as an alert should anyone encounter any of these materials. I don't know if MRH has rules pro/con postings like this but if it should help either the original owner or anyone who might unknowingly purchase stolen goods then it seems worth making.

50s - 60s tank cars for liquid fertilizer
I plan to have a fertilizer/farm supply industry on my layout. From discussions with former FEC engineers, this company received boxcars of bagged fertilizer and tank cars of liquid fertilizer.
Question for freight car experts; for my era of late 50s early 60s what kind of tank car would carry liquid fertilizer? Also, would the tank cars be UTLX lettered or a chemical company such as Dupont or Hooker?
Thank you.
how small is n scale compared to ho scale in terms of track
ok so first off i live in a small 370-SQFT studio apartment so im limited on space. ho scale is to big for the small space i have set aside for my trains
so im wondering in terms of layout design how small is n scale compared to HO. lets say i wanna build a standard oval layout how much smaller would it be?
im limited ro 1 foot 7 inches wide by 3 feet long its the only space i have at the moment. would an n scale oval layout fit or would i need more space
