ISL to roundy-round and space constraints
I have built a N scale industrial switching layout on a shelf in my office and used most of the available space to do it. Now I want to be able to just let the train run...
The layout is currently 9' x 11" and the available space is 12' x 24" although extending out to the full 24" for the entire layout would probably cramp my desk to much. The shelves that I am using to support it are 16" deep. Here is an early photo of the space.
Track Plan Is In
I got my plan back early. I struggled making my own track plan with my last layout so I decided to have someone with a lot more experience design one for me. I am glad I did. Several of the industries on here are placeholders and not final. I'll probly tweak a couple of things here and there but this is pretty how it will be.

Allied Rail Rebuilders,...custom builds
I was looking for images of custom builds/modifications to the Walther's kit "Allied Rail Rebuilders" . I didn't find much during an image search??
I would have thought I would find more. Anyone have some?
Preventative Maintenance
I'm a little curious as to how many on this list actually have and implement a preventative maintenance program? I know I have one, as my using the Easy Model Railroading software reminds me that I have entered some dates periodically. But have I really implemented a PM system? For those who know me, I work in the chemicals business, where PM systems are taking very seriously as part of maintaining equipment operational and ultimately quality control.

A new tower
I needed a tower for a junction of the Brighton Park to Riverdale main with the line to West Linncott. I built this using the Atlas #701 Elevated Gate Tower kit as a starter.

Mini vacuum for static grass
I purchased a cute little vacuum called “The World’s Smallest Vacuum” dedicated to picking up static grass for reuse. The vacuum works very well and would make a great addition to any scenery project.
Can Genesis F7 headlight plugs be removed or turned from vertical to horizontal?
Can the headlight plugs in the Athearn Genesis F7 and other Genesis F-units which have dual headlights in the housing be removed from the body and turned from the vertical to horizontal positions? I have an F7 A unit which has the headlight housing (plug) with the lights in the vertical position, and would like to turn the lights to the proper horizontal orientation. Since I'm not sure how these are attached into the headlight opening in the shell, I could use some help before I try to fix it myself. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Having Fun Operating - Switching Bradford, VT on the Boston & Maine
Some of you may remember an article I put together for MRH back in the May 2017 issue regarding "Getting to the Fun Part", Modeling, Bradford, VT. The article was based on scenery construction in a semi-prototype town of Bradford, VT on the Boston & Maine's Connecticut River Line. The town itself has been finished for a few years and I've had a lot of fun operating and switching it.
equivalent colours for the Amtrak California Coaster passenger cars
I have a short HO scale Coaster livery commuter train and I'd like to add extra bi-level Bombardier passenger cars. They are not readily available except at high prices online in the US and even rarer here in the UK. I can find equivalent cars from other lines over here and much cheaper. I've found some decals that have sufficient markings for up to four Coaster cars.
Allagash - Sunset at Madrid Engine Terminal
Sometimes, Mother Nature throws us a little surprise!
I've got a small basement window in the boiler room and at this time of year, the late afternoon sun comes right through that window at an extremely low angle and casts a glow over the yard at Madrid. This happens each afternoon, but only for a total of maybe 5 or 6 minutes and the light is literally changing by the second. I've captured a bunch of different images and thought I'd share a couple that I captured today.
