Speed Matching for DCC engines - Arduino Speedometer
Hi guys,
now that several of my engines are finally converted to DCC, I want to try the consisting. Step one should be having all engines of one type with the same behaviour at the throttle and capped at their prototypical max. speed. In order to achieve this, I needed a speedometer.
After trying several webpages on this matter, I finally came across this one:

How many layouts????
Just curious, How many layouts has the average or serious modeler built and destroyed, or sold, during their life time only to start fresh and rebuild again? (tearing down hours of labored love) Regardless of size, scale, location, or reason for starting over, I myself was active duty navy (just 8 years) during that time I can recall at least 3 different 3'x6'8" ( on a door) and two solid 4x8 (depending on apartment or living quarters.) Since then however I kind of lost count, ball park over ten.

Help getting an Atlas SD-24 w/DCC to move!
Atlas SD-24 Gold.
I was running it in a consist and wanted to try turning the sound off. Somehow, I messed something up and I don't know what.
The engine responds to it's road number, sound comes up with the throttle, light turns on, but the engine will not move.
I'm wondering if there's a way to reset the decoder, or if there's something else I should check.
Appreciate some suggestions on some things to do to isolate the problem.
Thanks
Deane

Now It's Getting Fun!
I'm taking a page from Marty McGuirk's playbook and painting the lower half of my walls the same color that my fascia will be on my layout. I think this will look pretty clean and should frame my shelf-style layout nicely. Deciding on a color has been a tricky (yet fun) process. I think I've decided I want to go with a darker color that will compliment the scenery (which will be very similar in color to that of my old layout) but do I go with a green or a brown color? Perhaps something more neutral?
How would a derailment like this be cleaned up?
Train derailed onto the team track.
Only access to train would be on the flat car side.

Micron Arts
Has anyone heard anything about Micron Arts?
Went to go to their website and it says domain is not taken.

Operating Session Help
I am getting ready to have operations on my point-to-point layout and need some advice. Here are the basics:
1. The layout is 27 feet long divided into two "towns" with a number of sidings each.
2. These towns are separated by a bridge over a suggested river which has a passing track.
Proto2000 GP Tune Up and DCC Installation
I’ve been impressed with the value of the Proto2000 (P2K) GP-7/9/18/20 series since they began coming out in the late 1990’s. For between $40-70, you can get a great running diesel locomotive with just a little bit of elbow grease. I recently looked on eBay and found over 40 GP9s for sale, and even more GP7s. These are readily available at train shows as well.
