Transition era rock slide detectors

Can anyone steer me to prototype and/or HO modeling tips on western railroad slide detectors, preferably transition era?

Track Cleaning

Hello fellow Railroaders.

I was just wondering if I'm the only modeller out there that is continually and constantly, and I mean forever cleaning my track!!!!!  I have a great deal a track. It's a real pain in the you know what.

I use 99.9% Isopropyl alcohol with a cloth, also I use a 2 self cleaning box cars. However nothing except pure muscle power seems to work effectively.

Other than investing in a surgical "clean room" does anybody have some good advice to offer.

Cheers

Paul

Embarrassing Moments (How many times have I bought that tool?)

Have you ever been looking for that tool or kit that you bought and found two, or three?

Im guilty of being on eBay and bidding on something that “I should have” - but already do and forgot!

Advice for camouflage (hiding non-railroad things on the layout)

I need some advice on how to camouflage some neodymium magnets that I'll be using to support my conductor during ops sessions.

Weight for CV 40' flat car kit

Does anyone have a method or knows of a method for adding weight to the CV 40' flat car kit? It looks like it will turn out to be a nice addition to the roster but the way the kit is I do not see any options for adding weight.

Heat exchanger - a drawing

Dear friends

I am working on a rather big Cold Storage inspired by the model on the encolosed image. I am now looking at building the "heat exchanger" seen on the roof (not sure if the it the correct word for the device though).

I am interested in a drawing, sketch or detailed image of such a unit.

Can you help me?

Regards

Robert from Sweden

Hazmat Training Cars

While visiting family in Spring, TX, I saw these hazmat training cars in the wye.  They are used to train first responders on tank cars and tank car safety, and familiarize them with the various access hatches and connections on tank cars.  While these are very rare cars, they do move around a lot and can be seen in locations that have a lot of hazmat passing through. About 5 years ago I was in Essington, PA (south of Philadelphia) and saw the NS versions of these cars.

Users of Micro Engineering Ladder system

I downloaded the templates of the ladder system and printed them out.  I verified that the template lengths were correct.  When I placed the templates on the layout, I get track spacing of 1 &13/16ths not the recommended spacing.

For those who have installed the system, what have I missed or done wrong?

Thanks...Ken

Theoretical benchwork design store a 10.5"x10' layout in only 7"x20" (wall of text warning still only in brainstorming phase)

Intro thing

After sharing my other benchwork design while brainstorming I have come up with that should, in theory, allow me to store a 10' long layout in a very compact space excluding buildings which would have to be removable and stored elsewhere which is an issue I can accept.
