Ballast Hopper Interiors
After being bitten by the weathering bug, I decided to dirty up my Atlas ballast hoppers. The interiors were a real challenge since I lacked color photos of prototype car interiors for the late 50's. A lengthy email exchange with a former BN employee gave me some ideas. I armed myself with PanPastels, some oil paints, and a variety of applicators and set to work. The following posts show my attempts.
Anyone in northern New Jersey first op session need 3 guys
Hello anyone out there want to be a part of my first operation session. I live in northern New Jersey my layout is a is mostly a switching layout. With some run through freights. The era is 1980-1983 based in the northeast kingdom of Vermont between St. Johnsbury vt, Newport VT, and morrisville VT I model the lamoille valley, CP rail , and Boston & Maine railroads as well as some early Guilford mixed power. Fair warning my basement is still some what messy but more then enough room to operate the railroad.

Two more layout decisions to make.
I spent some time this weekend re-assembling the Siever's benchwork (great stuff!) from my previous layout in my attic space this weekend and it fits pretty nicely. This benchwork is over 12 years old and this is the third layout that I have used it on. Here is how it looks in the room:

Saturn / NASA Rocket Program and our trains
Just yesterday I was reminded of the current extortionary news coverage of the history of our space program. I've been watching it also.
There was a time when I considered the links that might be made between that space program and our model railroads.
Cost of sound cards
I converted my 3 locos to DC. Removal of sound cards and wired direct. Really work sweet with the Varipulse throttle. So I'm a happy camper.
Linel Double Tower Floodlight
I am building a baseball stadium with lights. I recently purchased 2 Lionel Pug and Play Double Floodlight Towers (6-82013). I am confused on how to supply power to them...any model train enthusiast out there that can help me figure this out? I am not into trains (my sincere apologies) but I figured I would go to the experts on this. I want to keep it as simple and straight forward as possible. Thanks.
how do you paint a flat car body
Folks, anyone have a suggestion as to how to best paint this Tichy flat car without messing up the deck that I have painted/weathered. I looking for a jig or some ingenious way to hold the car while painting.
Thanks, David Stickney, Red bluff, CA
