Soldering to diecast metal

Has anyone been successful in soldering to a diecast metal engine body.  If so, what is the best way to do it?

Thank you for any insights you can offer.

Using Decoder Pro with a Macbook...

 Hi All,

I want to use Decoder Pro with a Macbook, has anybody on MRH successfully used Decoder Pro with a Macbook via a USB to RS 232 Serial Adaptor using a NCE Power Pro?

I purchased a USB to Serial adaptor today only to realise that it was for Windows only, I tried downloading a driver for    OS X but it doesn't seem to be working.  Would appreciate any ideas...

Cheers,

Jas...

West Coast Heavy

There seems to be a lot of US west coast members, discussions, model rail lines on MRH forum. Is this because MRH staff are west coast folks or is the west coast a hot bed of model railroad activity?

Unsure what to do .... design dilemma

I am in the process of trying to design my new layout and i am finding myself suffering from a little analysis paralysis. For a long time now i have wanted to design and build a prototype layout of Sand Patch Grade in Pa. however i have always been limited in space and had to settle for a much smaller free lanced layout. A recent move Interstate has landed me with the ideal layout area to now maybe have this dream layout realised.

Joining a model railroad club

I have a lot of childhood / armchair railroad experience, but now am ready to start building my own layout.  I'm thinking of joining the local club - I would certainly learn a lot and get lots of hand on experience.

The layout is freelance, but it is very unconvincing.  It's supposed to be a fictional northeast layout, set in the mid-fifties.  There are so many anachronisms, and the structures, scenery, and rolling stock don't have a cohesive fit or feel.  I was surprised how much this grated on my nerves, and it really bothered me.

This Look ok?....

This Look ok?... I made these as ground cover for my hillside on my layout and was wonder if they looked ok, I like them, but....I'm still very new at this and don't have the experience you guys have.

Thanks so much for your feedback.
