Some NdeM/FNM roster pics

Hi everyone. I'm enjoying a few easter days off, and I have taken some pictures of some of my custom painted locomotives.

Most of them are craftmanship of Juan Aguilera, the equivalent of George Micklus in Mexico City. Juan besides being a superb modeler has been also one of my best friends for almost 15 years, I just wished he could have some more time to paint & decal the rest of my locomotives in a faster manner.

A tour of the Greenpoint Dock & Transfer Engine House

I'm 90% of the way through my 1st structure for my layout and thought I would share some pictures.  With my engine house I'm looking to capture all of the "beauty" that was New York in the mid 70's.

Using Mirrors in scenery?

I occasionally read people online & in articles mention using mirrors in their scenery to make areas appear bigger or deeper. I understand the concept, but can anyone help with basics about HOW to impliment this? I know the mirror has to placed so the person viewing the scene does not see him/herself or things around/behind them, but that's the extent of my knowledge of "placing". Thanks!

Update on crossing Lighthouse and Bridge

Found a little time to work on my Lighthouse/Bridge combo.

Took out the old archway bridge and positioned the newly bashed base for the bridge and layout.

The truss bridge will need to be re-worked to move it back to the position shown below.  Lots of work left on this model but I'm happy with how it is progressing.

Railways of America Museum contents up for auction

If anyone has ever visited Railways of America Museum in Cuyahoga Falls OH they know it was an immense O gauge layout. At one time billed as the largest model train layout in the world. It is going to auction this coming Saturday.

I wish I modeled modern N scale

I wish I modeled modern N scale. No I mean it, I really do.

We just returned from Japan, where I was able to ride some trains, do some rail-fanning, and visit a number of hobby shops in Tokyo (although that wasn't the main purpose of our visit). Although mostly Japanese prototypes, the selection of N gauge items were amazing - the range of vehicles, and things like shipping containers were mind boggling.

Learning Xtrakcad - More video's added

I am learning Xtrakcad. I have asked a few questions on MRH and got some great answers. It's a hard program to learn but maybe I can help others out. I have a small video that I posted on Youtube. So here it is.

Getting closer to operations

Unless the sky falls I'm about 3 months away from being able to do operations on the Richlawn Railroad for the very first time.  I'll have probably enough area / switching to engage three operators.  I've belonged to an operating group (North Country Interchange Operating Group - NCIOG) for about a year and we're all either in the building stage or in my case have an operating railroad, but no switching opportunities.  One of the guys in our group (of 7 guys) has an awesome layout and is also working on trying to do operations.

On Staycation

I've been on vacation/staycation for the past week, its nice to have a little time of work to pursue other things, oh of course I have plenty of work to do around the house, but I also want to have some fun while on staycation, So I made a trip over to Dana's RR Supply and ran a train, couldn't afford to buy anything, since we were surprised last Saturday that we needed to put a couple of tires on the car, (tires are sure getting expensive these days), and after buying gas, purchasing a locomotive last week, I wasn't doing much of anything else! But I did run a train!
