I be iDumb! I meant to say iPad, not iPod! Thanks for bringing that to my attention.
Alternative Power
Alternative Power
It is that time of year again. During the Holiday Season every train we own gets it's share of track time. No matter what the road name, diesel or steam, passenger or freight all of our trains will enjoy some fresh air outside of the box on the rails or on the work bench if need be. Minor repairs and maintenance is expedited and any major repairs will have the shop crew on overtime.
Bachmann FA2
Interesting to see that Bachmann has a FA2 A and B with SoundTraxx sound for $103.00, each. This will help those want diesel sound but at an affordable price.

Merit of Modular layouts?
This will, in all likelihood, be a controversial subject but I question the merit of modular layouts for public displays and hobby advancement. I have recently seen four large modular layouts open to the public. All layouts had forms of animation, signalling, sound equipped locomotives and extensive rolling stock. In all instances I have been disappointed. I note the following:

Bob's Trains unveiling at Northeast Georgia Medical Center
My wife Midge & I were honored to attend the unveiling of Bob’s Trains at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center held on Tuesday December 13th. For those of you that didn't read previous posts, Bob's Railroad is a toy railroad for the children at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Georgia. A number of generous gentlemen lead by Dr.

Decaling Accurail Kits
Hi All-
I have 13 Accurail boxcar kits coming my way and I have on hand the renumbering decals from Accurail to make unique car numbers on all of them. While I'm comfortable with the basic concepts of decaling does anyone have any previous experience working with the accurail decals in particular who could impart any knowledge?
Many Thanks,

BQR Trackwork Completed
Well, finally got the last blank spaces on the layout occupied. It has been an interesting process with many changes. Gluing track and roadbed is definitely a mixed bag -- makes for nice, solid connections but taking it up is a delicate process at best. I will keep using a thin layer of DAP transparent latex caulk for any long, curved sections but for general trackwork nails are much easier to work with. Now that a bunch of stuff has been changed my original plan for how to handle power districting is in shambles.

You Operations guys - input please
So it's time to show my ignorance and hopefully help reduce it. I was doing a little operations on my alcove expansion and my "orders" said "pull L&N 90508 boxcar from Palmer". The problem is, with the box car particaly inside Palmer's building I can't see the car number on the side and the end number is too small to read (see the picture mock up below).
Too Blog or Not to Blog?
So I am sitting here working on my layout design, and have started doing some things to the train room, and I was thinking that other people would like to see info on my progress. I know I like to see what others do, especially on here, (pics, videos, blogs, etc,,,) and that is the main reason why in the last 2-3 weeks I have made a lot of progress as far as design is considered because of the good people on here and there ideas and comments.
