The SW1001 Project

After stalling for several years, I've returned to my quest for some SW1001.  For those that may not know, the EMD SW1001 is basically a SW1000, with lower walkways and an old style cab, to better fit the confines of industrial users.  This modified version actually outsold the stock SW1000.

Locos light but wont move

I can select lights (and they change when the loco direction is changed) but the loco wont move at all, either way.

 

I have two decoders doing this. One, A DH163D exhibits this behavior in *ANY* loco it is plugged into. (using Athearn RTRs Quick Plug DCC.) So i'm thinking it's bad?

Ok, so I am tired of armchair modeling and have decided, with the help of MRH and others here decided to finally get into the meat of my layout. I have included a JPEG of my lower level staging for your comments. Note I am still working on dimensions but I figured I could post here for any constructive advice.

Matte medium removal?

Hi all,

        Question:I need to move ballasted track bonded with matte medium any special(i.e. easy) way to do this?My customer wants to move a switch/spur that has been in place for months.The track can be replaced but I need to save the switch.

Dapol Class 26 in green runs for the first time on the IoS

Hello,

my brand new Dapol Class 26 in British Railways green got it's first run on my IoS modules. She is equipped with a Bachmann 36-558 DCC chip. Today she leds a stopping passanger train from the fiddle yard to Uig.

HELP! I have finished the soldering and began to test my layout but have developed a problem. The Digitrak shows a running "o" which indicates a short. However, after trying a number of things, I still have a problem.

Here is the sequence:

1. After installing the programming track and 2 drops on the main line, the test engine ran well.

JV Models Craftsman Kits

Hey guys,

I'm considering buying a structure kit made by JV Models.  I understand that the kit is intended for experienced modelers.

Can anyone speak from experience about the overall quality of JV Models kits?  Are the instructions detailed and easy to understand?  Any pitfalls to beware of?  Any tips or advice?

HO Elevated street car station?

Elevated Street Car/Trolley Station

Does anyone know of a design for a covered elevated trolley/street car station? I've seen a pic of one, but can't remember were. A covered station/stop with step down to the main level.

Don't know if this is the right place for this,but here goes. I have a heljan turntable model # 804 is there any way to motorize this thing. if so where can you get the parts and information to do it.
