Train Elevators

Is anyone out there using a train elevator to reach a top deck instead of a helix?    I saw an article in Model Railroader last year and it seemed like an interesting idea.  What are your thoughts or ideas on this?

Anyone have any pictures or plans of one they built?

advice on MTH Cab Forward problem

I short circuited the track that my MTH Cab Forward was standing on. I cannot get sound now. I have pressed F3 (turns sound on) and F6 (sound toggle) to no avail. No sound at all.

The unit runs okay.

What is the damage and how can I rectify this problem?

What's Inside a Bachmann Power Pack?

We've all seen them, we've all used them, and many still use them all around the layout, even after going DCC.

It's the ubiquitous Brick the power pack we all know but rarely mention as anything more than a bench tester, power for a bus line, or simply a good chuck against the wall!

So just WHAT IS the Bachmann Wallwart?

My First Ops Session

Well, I've been home a total of 4 days in the last 30 and am off again tomorrow for another 7 before I get to spend 5 straight at home.  However, while its been exhausting, while in Connecticut this past week I got two offers to visit layouts.  Unfortunately, I couldn't make one due to scheduling but on Saturday I was able to visit rfbranch's layout and take part in my first ever ops session.

Barrel Colors

I am looking for long memories here.

Does anyone remember the barrel paint schemes that were used by Canadian fuel suppliers in the 50's/60's?

Imperial Oil (ESSO) used Red/White/Red, I believe the B/A (now Gulf) used Green/Orange/Green or maybe it was Blue/Orange/Blue. But can't remember what Co-op, Shell and Texaco used. Also would be interested in the color codes for some of the American companies as well - although I think Standard (or is it Mobile) used Red/White/Red as well.

Rock and Roll - Fast Tracks Tilt Table.

I have been looking for this video clip for some time and it finally surfaced! When this was in use there weren't too many digital video cameras around, so very little video of it operating exists.  Back in 2006, in preparation for the National Train Show in Philadelphia, we wanted to build a unique item to demonstrate trackwork built with our tools.

Talc Plant Question

Good day all,

I am working on putting down on paper my list of industries and have hit a small snag on one.  My last industry going on on my layout will be a Talc Plant.  Now aside from Center-flo and covered hoppers, would anyone know what other cars would be used at a talc load facility- I am taking the product out of the plant stage and its being shipped to factories to be used in making products

Thanks inadvance...

Model Power HO 0-6-0T w/DCC & Sound,

I am considering buying a Model Power HO 0-6-0T w/DCC & Sound. Does anyone have one of these?

What is your opinion of this model?

Laser Cut Parts

Hi folks, I am currently working on the drawings of the C&O Bridge at Hawks Nest WV. With the intent to build this bridge for my layout (I model the C&O from Hawks Nest to Hinton).
