MRH Webcam Chat Sessions...

I thought I would kick of this thread after some discussion on another thread regarding MRH members starting a online webcam chat community.

As I mentioned I have already had an iChat (Apple Chat system) with Richard (rfbranch), it was an enjoyable 4 hours of discussing each others layouts, sharing of ideas and seeking thoughts from each other.  It was also mentioned by Joe that with internet advances in the future, we may see MRH adopting this as part of their website.

Installing DCC in my brass 2-8-2

This is the second part of my adventure of installing DCC in my brass K-27 2-8-2. The first part involved installing a four function decoder in the smoke box. This decoder controls the headlight, classification marker lights, cab light and firebox light.

ICRR Poydras Street Yard

Mike Palmeri sent me these interesting points on the Poydras Street Yard.

Older Atlas Turnouts

Branch line passengers carriages

I am looking for passenger carriages that would be applicable to run on my branch line.

Any suggestions as to where I can order from. Union pacific would be cool, but if not possible then I am open for suggestions.

What to do in New York and Washington?

From the 3rd to the 13th of October this year, a group of 6 model railroad enthusiasts from Norway, including myself, will be spending some time rail fanning (and hopefully model rail fanning) on the east coast. We are basically looking for good ideas where to go, and what sights to see. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Poydras Street Yard and surronding industries

Guys earlier today I had a emergency crop up and got side tracked. Here are some of the amazing photos and maps that I've collected so far for my layout design. I would like to thank Art Houston and Mike Palmeri for all they sent me on the Poydras Street Yard. I hope you enjoy them and if you have questions or maybe some suggestions for me while I'm still doing a preliminary design, please feel free. My goal is to make this layout true, and ill fit as much as I can with the space limitations I'm forced to deal with.

digital cameras

I dont know where this belongs. I am going to purchase a digital camera. I want to take fotos of my modeling and submit them to MRH. I also want to send pics to my son. What cameras do you use? I have a budget of about $100-$150. I have an old Pentax slr film camera with a some nice lenses,but like 8-tracks and vhs tapes, its not worth 10% of what I paid for it. Any suggestions would wellcome.

Thanks, John

ICRR Poydras Street Yard, Maps, photos

Going to put up a few pieces of information that you other ICRR modelers and fans may find of interest. Id like to thank Art Houston, and Mike Palmeri for contributing the majority of these photos and maps. Truely without their kind assistance, my project would still be just in the dream stage. To all, I'm looking for any information on operations into and out of Poydras St. Yard, and the industries it served. Anyone having maybe old switch lists, or if schedules exist or anything of that nature, id appreciate copies if you wish to share them.
