louvred vents on loco shed
I am planning on scratch building the mallet house, which was in Thurmond WA. It had louvred vents along the top of the roof, I don't really want to scratch build these unless I have to. Does anyone know where I can get them from already made up.
Thanks

Any use for drywall in layout construction?
I saw a photo recently in the MRH forums recently that had included what looked like drywall as sub roadbed. I'm not sure that this is a good idea, but seeing it got me to thinking... I am currently building a new house and I have lots of drywall cuttoffs waiting to go to the dump.
Can anyone suggest *any* good use for this material in layout construction before I just throw it out?

Breaking Ground on the R&SW Spur
The first two days of this week were productive ones. In about 36 hours I managed to go from flat insulation foam to trains actually moving. This all thanks to the help of another local modeler, Eric.

What's the worst that can happen? Wrong resistor for LED
Okay, I goofed! I installed some LED headlights in a model and used 270 Ohm instead of 470 Ohm resistors. The model is now glued up to the point that replacing the resistors would involve major work and possible damage. If I need to, I could add another resistor in either the common or function leads, but I'd rather not if it can be avoided because I'd rather not have to re-open the model, and because space is just a little tight in there.

Communications in the Hobby
The Lone Star DIV. of NMRA has stop hard copy printing of Marker Lamp and will publish its first electronic full color issue this quarter. I received notification the NMRA will start an electronic supplement to its magazine in the near future. Many of the divisions though out the NMRA have gone to electronic publications. Again thanks to Joe for setting the path for now many others to follow. The more the merrier.
Shingle Siding
I want to do a model of my home when I was young that used the 12 x 24 asbestos shingles as siding. Anybody have an idea as to how to do this. I have found nothing so far commercially available. I am about to the point of photographing existing siding on some buildings and spending some time in photoshop to create my own paper siding.
Thanks- PKS

CAMERA CAR LAZER KIT
This is a lazer kit for holding your cell phone to be used a camera car on railroad. Picked this up on West Island Model RR Club Site. I do not know who makes the kit.

Digitrax and JMRI/CTC
I was explaining some of the neat stuff Ive been reading about JMRI and using it to run CTC to a friend of mine who has a basement sized HO scale layout. He wanted me to look in to weather or not we could set up an area on his layout to see if it would look and operate better than the current Atlas ABS system he has in place now. We are using Digitrax for layout control other than the signal system.
