Getting started in Proto48 - where do I find a RTR or close to RTR engine?
I'm modeling a 1900 era layout (Delaware & Hudson) in O-scale. One of my goals is to have accurate sized track and properly scaled rolling stock. It looks like micro-engineering code 100 O scale track may be a good starting spot for track. However, I'm struggling to find a small (2-6-0 or 4-4-0) steam engine that would fit the track. Initially the engines will be DC powered, though eventually they will be battery powered.

US Geological Survey
I thought I would share some tools that I'm using to design a new prototype railroad. I'm interested in modeling Denver in particular in 1959. I have traveled to Denver and lived in Denver for many years but as anybody knows the railroad's don't look the same today as they did and 59.

Why I don't RailFan on my home layout
or: Why I dislike ovals.
We all know that oval layouts suck space out of a layout room by demanding access to all sides of the layout. Yes, you can push them up against the wall but then there is the old reach issue (I'm 5' 8" - I don't reach that far).Having recently returned to the hobby after 30 years doing life (marriage, kids, teens and then their marriage) I initially fell for the oval.

Starting on the C. Reiss Coal Co. part 1
I have started to complete the C. Reiss Coal Co. ramp & structures for this business in the Ashland Industrial Area on my HO scale CNW - Peninsula Div layout. The first pictures are of the ramp scenery base lead up to the coal trestle.

Satellite truck
I am in want of a HO scale Satellite truck. I have searched ebay and the internet to no avail. Does anyone know where I could find one or the parts to build one? I did see where some one had built one, but it was only a picture.
Thanks
Alan
