Grand Model Russia

Most of us here have heard of Miniature Wonderland in Hamburg, Germany.... well, there is something very similar in Russia as well:

Pretty darn impressive.

New N Scale Diorama

I have begun work on a small diorama so that I can photograph outside my attempts to weather rolling stock and locomotives. It measures 5 1/4" x 26". I will post new pictures as things progress. Today I ballasted track and began work on the ground cover.

opinions wanted

So, I am preparing the last of a scratch built flat car last night and went to perform what I thought was the last step.  I had some nice decals made up with the car reporting marks on them and was going to apply them.

Video from a Train Show in Australia

Hi all,

Some video from a local show here in Perth, Western Australia.  It was a busy 3 day show with some 18-20,000 through the doors.  I spent most of my time operating on the 1st 2 layouts in the video.

Removing Walthers Streamliners' roofs

How do one remove the Walthers Streamliner coach roofs without leaving any marks on the side of the roof? I want to detail the interior and add LED lighting, but do not want to damage the roof in the process.

Regards

Xander

Source for Kato SD38-2 dynamic brake hatch?

Does anyone know of a source for a spare Kato HO scale SD38-2 dynamic brake hatch?  Paint scheme/undec doesn't matter, as I'm having a tough time finding one in any form.  Any assistance would be very much appreciated.

Interlake Vulcanian Railroad

I posted pictures of 2 engines that I had rebuilt in the blog area with a short write up of my experience. I had also posted a picture of the engines on a collectors forum to which I belong. Someone there went absolutely ga-ga over the picture and gave me the following link http://mendotarailmuseum.tripod.com/id29.html. It appears the tender I bought off ebay is quite a collectors item. My plans to strip and repaint this piece of equipment have just permanently gone on hold and it will now end up in a display case.

Under $2 solution for Flickerfree LED coach lights

Commercially available Flicker Free (Supercaps or Stay Alive) circuits are good for driving a chain of LED's if you hard wire these or use the manufacturers PCB. These are all designed around an output voltage of 3V, since the supercap is rated for max. 5.5V at say 1F or 1.5F. The capacitor itself is a $1.50 min. on eBay

A Railroad in a container

My wife and I are considering building a new house. Not just any house, but one built out of used shipping containers. As part of the negotiation I am holding out for a complete 40' container as model railroad room.

A container is essentially a 40' x 8' space, roughly 8' high
