Where's the Beef?

I have been trying to construct from scratch the loading pens for my HO diorama/small layout of Walnut Creek station in the late 1940's and early 50's (I am not too specific about time as I like the 50's and the idea of shipping cattle by rail to a distant meat packing plant but the pen was demolished in 1948) I needed to populate my loading pens with Hereford cattle awaiting loading on the three Red Caboose SP stock cars I recently acquired.

Do you run at scale speeds?

My prototype has a speed restriction of 25mph in place of the entire subdivision that I model.

Nice and slow, see, that's the way.

I was wanting to confirm that my speed was appropriate and so today I picked up a speed calculator app for my iPhone (ModelSpeed).

I discovered that, in fact, I am running too slow. But an actual scale 25mph FEELS too fast. A scale 18mph is much better to me. I'm going to enact the selective compression of time act of 2014 and say my 18mph is 25.

Troublesome Triangle: Your Help Needed

Alright y'all. I've got this unused triangle of rail-served real estate and I have no idea what to do with it. I've gone back and forth many many times on what would work best there but all I have decided is that this is a terribly inconvenient space and I've (literally) backed myself into a corner. Heres a bit wider view of the scene.

N Scale Enthusiast Milw Road Spent Grain Box

Hello everyone
N Scale Enthusiast released a Milw Road Spent Grain Box and I wanted to know if someone knew the build date on these models. And how long the prototypes were in service.
Thanks in advance.

Korber Models problem

I'm working on preparing an O-scale Korber Models kit.  First I stripped the excessively heavy paint so I could repaint to a lighter color, white.  When I repainted with a primer, I found lots of little plastic bubbles that were relatively easy to carve off.

But in two of the long walls, there must be thousands of small to medium size "divots." Some I could fill with CA glue, but the majority cannot be filled that way, at least in my lifetime.  Fortunately, it will be a background building.

Vac-U-Form used for HO scale details.

Yep, that toy from the 1960's was used to create the tile roofing, the row boats and the canoe.  I really was getting it to make clear windows for vehicles, but had some other ideas first.  Got any other ideas.  Hopefully I will get these done in the next week and get some finished photos posted.

Thread truss rods on Roundhouse kits???.....

I have a couple of G&D cars mad by Roundhouse that a dear friend found at a garage sale and sent to me. In perusing the instructions I see that thread is used to simulate the truss rods but I'm not real clear on how it's applied. Does someone have a picture of a finished car or have a better diagram/explanation of what the instructions show?

Michael
