Commission done

This is for a O scale operator,  I was commission to help produce Precast Concrete Pipes for a gondola load for his operating layout.

You can also see the Precast Concrete Pipes in both HO and N,  For fun I did a mock up of his idea (He will be suing real wood) and printed it out in N scale,  makes a rather nice load and gives me an idea of what it will look like in O scale. He just needs to light sand and paint the O scale ones do to the vector lines showing up in such a larger scale.  But one model 4 scales.

Some smaller 3D printed projects

One of the items I'm finding is if I don't design constantly with Fusion 360, I start to forget the odd "foundation" items, and have to spend time relearning stuff.  I don't like doing that, so I've decided that I have to keep something "on the burner" when it comes to 3D design and printing.

Airbrush manifold project...

When you want to run dual DragonAir - airbrushes, you need a custom manifold.

Tonight’s project all completed, brass fittings, Iwata flow control valves with gauges.
I may even give this the SMS Paint treatment to match the Iwata valves...

Highway Markings

The question of highway markings comes up every so often.  I came across this issue of "The History Guy" that talks about highway markings and might be handy.

Tortoises, Switches, Electronics, coming together.

Hello all,

Getting close to getting some trains running at my mill. I am using Tortoise switch machines and have a few questions and ideas to bounce across the group before taking the next step.

The Car Shop has been busy

The Wilmington Car Shop has been busy.  Since the temps are so low I've stopped cutting benchwork in the garage and have taken time catch up on some rolling stock projects.

K4 decals made some LV boxcar decals and I bought a sheet.  One sheet will letter 4 cars, so I went whole hog and am building 4 cars.

Putting Shingles on my Station

I have been spending a bit of time every few nights putting shingles on my station. I like the wood shingle effect an colours that suggest aged roofing. I am nearly complete this part of my structure, so how did I get to this point.

Straining paint prior to airbrushing......

We’ve all done it, added paint to the airbrush w/o straining it when in a hurry and needing only tiny bit, right?  The result very often leads to a clogged airbrush and there goes all that time you saved by not straining the paint!

So, how do you strain it?

New Track Plan in the Works

Hey All,

So the original plan was for a room filling layout housed in a part of our upcoming home addition. Thanks to covid lumber prices though, the addition has put on hold indefinitely... A year out at best, so long as nothing else comes up in life.
