Layout Mock Up

Having put up some new shelves, which allowed me clear the shelves the layout will live on, I thought I would mock up the layout to see how things looked and have a go at switching a few cars.  I only added 1 turnout as all the others I have prewired for attaching to a frog juicer.   It was interesting I had planned to have 2 turnouts but as the layout is only planned to be 12 or 13 inches wide (the shelves are 12 inches wide), but with just 1 turnout the layout feels right.   If I put another one in I think it would look and feel cramped.  Unless I make t

Loaner or Crew Member?

I have a topic here that has long been burning in my mind. That is, are you a "loaner" who prefers to build and operate your layout by yourself, or maybe with one other person, . . . or do you function best when you are with a "crew" of workers and operators???

I have participated in the hobby with both types and after many long years I can with confidence say that I do NOT like operating with a crew. Many of you operate with half a dozen operators or more. I know some of you that won't (can't) operate with less than ten or more operators.

Where should I put in expansion gaps?

Crash at Crush

Sent to me the other day,...a staged train wreck with bad consequences

Atlas track

Has Atlas track gone by the way side?  I have been waiting two months to find Atlas track.  I am seriously thinking going to Fast Tracks and with Peco I don't understand their angle of the turnout.  I am tired of seeing Out of Stock.  I am in need of help.

Undecorated Locomotive Conversion...

Did another undecorated shell tonight, this one cleaned up much better than the last, and the SMS - White Surfacer went on much nicer too.<

No Legs Benchwork

Here are some pictures of the benchwork I use along the walls of my layout.  There are no legs, so the area under the layout is free for storage.
