My First Trainz set game
Another game from Auran much like Trainz simulator except you are now in a house.

Soldering: Who really does it right?
I've soldered before, mainly on track and PC boards, but I haven't in a while. I'm getting ready to solder feeder wires and took some time last night to watch some videos on soldering on model railroads. Everywhere from Youtube, to TrainmastersTV, MR, MR+, and few self hosted.
I'd always run under the adage that you need to heat both the iron and the part you are soldering. The part you are soldering needs to be hot and that's why you can melt your ties if you aren't careful (or some people use something for a heat sink.)

Smaller evergreens and such....trunk diameter vs. height?
I was looking at this old thread model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/2376 which is full of great info on larger trees but I need to ask a question on shorter trees. I've been making some 6 to 8 inch tall bottle brush style HO scale "pine or evergreen" trees I use in the background on my layout. That equals out to about 43 to 58 feet tall in HO scale so obviously these are not very tall in comparison to the ones discussed in that thread.

Jim Dufour layout - great episode!
I just watched the current episode featuring Jim Dufour's layout - and I wanted to say "Well done!" to both Jim and Barry for bringing such a great layout to the show. I really enjoyed the segment. I loved hearing about the prep for the open house and it was great to see the connection between railfan George Corey's vintage photos and how Jim has reproduced the scenes on the layout.
Great stuff: Please, bring us more layouts like this one!
Newbie
Hi my name is Bobby I'm new to the model train world, I'm from Massachusetts, and I want to build a ho train set from the northeast, I am thinking of starting out with a boston and maine setup, I was just a little confused in where to begin. Is there a big difference in quality with each model company and Is there a difference when purchasing a locomotive such as beginner to expert or is it all just about preference.
thank you

Scratch building some rural streetcars
Fir those of you who read my "gang car to steeple cab" forum may have noted I planned to undertake more trolleys using similar techniques. Well, this place is where I'll be writing that. Fir those interested in the steeple cab forum who haven't read it, here's the link: http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/21641
A must see layout

Almost to the Point of Rocks Station
Well the Point of rocks Station Project is done. I have had been asked to give some detail about the project so here it is.I was commitioned to build the Point of Rocks Station but with some changes. the Station had to fit between two tracks that were 4 inches apart, so the back side of the station would be cut off flat with the building and the space for the length was much longer than the real Station so it was stretched out.
