Tichy Milepost Markers
Hi all
Just wondering if anyone has these on their layout? If so are they readily readable from say 3 feet?
I am looking for a way to mark turnouts so that operators can identify turnouts by number and easily locate the correct toggle switch.

Wilmington Yard in Place
I have installed almost all the risers for the Wilmington terminal. It has been a bit of work but I think it was better to have spent the time. I originally planned to have the bottom of the backdrop at 49" ATF (above top of floor) and the layout at 50" ATF. I later decided it would be better to lower the roadbed to 49" ATF. After trying that I decided that would create issues with the joint between the backdrop and the layout. So I raised the layout height by 3/4". Why 3/4"? More on that later.

Ballasting by the Book or by the Prototype?
When reading about ballasting, I see a lot of
On prototype trackage, you will rarely see ballast on top of the ties.
Reverse loop in a dog-bone layout
I adhere to the request of oldmanep in which he asks that you please show the gaps on (4b) of Mr. Petrarca dog-bone with a basic loop description in the January 2015 issue, page 27.
My problem is that my new layout (see attachment) is being converted from a Rev loop to Rev loop to a dog-bone one but still mantaining the rev loop on the right. As this is new to me, I do not see clear if I have to also double gap the left side of the layout and if yes, where?
Many thanks to all.

When "scale size" doesn't look right
My recent visit from my good modeler friend Michael Rose reminded me of issues concerning scale - and when sometime the correct scale doesn't look correct. Michael had commented on my trees being too small in relationship to my loco. He nailed it when he noted that I had my trees small at the back of the layout to help with the transition between the actual scenery and the backdrop picture.
Sound loco power demand education
Been an interesting week running in my various sound locos now that I sorted out that cute problem with my programming track. I had bought the Railroad&Co Programmer module -- not that jmri wasn't doing the job, but for the run-in script feature. This allows you to setup a script that runs the loco in different directions and speeds for user-determined lengths of time.
