Flat or Grades

As I'm planning my layout I was wondering how many modelers have flat layouts with just bench work and a top compared to more open grid with risers and stuff to make the grades.  Currently I have my around the wall bench work done with pink foam just laid on top of it as I have not glued it down.

railquik

Awile back I decided to try railquick. I downloaded and installed it. Found out my computer lacks "access". There was some talk if I remember about possibly making it work with more open source programs. Has this been done yet? I know copies of access are still available but the ones I fi d are either not compatible with my machine or waaaaay out of my budget.

Foreign Train parts?

Every now and then a friend of mine who buys and sells at area train shows will give me a repair job if something needs repair to sell. I just got a Joueff train set to repair.

Any one know a good source of parts?

Thanks MARK

HO Drilling #79 holes for Grab Irons

I have just spent the last two weeks trying to drill umpteen #79 holes for the grab irons on a Tichy USRA box car kit. Nine broken #79 drill bits later with some bit ends stuck in the hole I was drilling I am totally frustrated.

Looking at Jack Burgess's perfectly lined up grab irons on the latest (June 2015) Getting Real article on his  Yosemite Valley box car prompts me to ask what is the secret for drilling all those holes?

ESU LokProgrammer Help

I have been installing a Loksound Select Direct Decoder into an Atlas GP 38.

To assist with this I decided to buy the ESU Loksound Programmer.

The decoder install was straightforward but I am having one or two problems with getting the right functions to work on the right buttons (using a Digitrax DCS100 & DT402 Throttle).
