Farm scenes

I hate making trees. That's either either funny or understandable given that my layout will probably require about 10,000 of the HO scale boogers by the time it's complete. Probably I should have modeled eastern instead of western Oregon - I'd need about 100 trees for an eastern Oregon layout.

RgsRR.info - it's back!!

For anyone who's enjoyed the thousands of photo links, extensive RGS history and details, and links to related topics on my website - it's now back.

The old address of 'rgsrr.info' is working again, and a second URL actually works as well - http://www.rgsrr.com

Either will get you to the site.

If any of you were using, or have links on your sites to the old 'base' address of 'rgsrr.home.comcast.net' - please update it to 'rgsrr.info'.  Thanks!!!

Gap near a rock shed

I built a rock shed (Timberline) for my HO mid-80's Canadian Pacific layout, then decided to move it. I have repositioned it but now have an un-prototypical gap between the tunnel portal and the shed.

Looking for ideas as to how to either bridge the gap or explain it away!!   -  Phil

(p,s, Trees still in the works!)

Mantua Steam Re-Motoring - What's the current thinking?

I know some may turn their noses up at old Mantua steamers running in DC-only mode, but I have several that I really love and would like them to run smoother. Most of the threads on this topic are pretty old, now, and the solutions are outdated. I have a couple of factory can motor Mantuas that are extremely smooth and one Camelback that has a Helix Humper inside. I plan to take these apart and try to figure out what's actually going on. And some of the open-frame motor units are very smooth and quiet.

O gauge layout update

Layout Update - 3 Nov 2015: Running Trains & Final Planning

This is the layout update for early November 2015. The wiring for the Paradigm to Union Station yard limit section (soldering feeders, connections to terminal strips, and connections to the main bus) has been completed. A DCC test of this section of power district 2 has also been successfully completed.  All of the tracks, including sidings, in the new section have been fully tested with DCC without any issues.

This picture shows the area where the DCC wiring has been completed.
