Locos - Rolling stock (general)

Limited Modeler: Let's make up a train

Can a Bachmann Boxcar be saved?

Greetings fellow modelers. I recently picked up some used freight cars, very cheaply, at a small train show. One was an older Bachmann car with the old push in type trucks with the coupler attached to the truck. Not much I can do with the trucks. But I was wondering if anyone has modified an older Bachmann car and was able to put it into revenue service on your layout.

Close Coupling for Passenger Cars

All,  what is the "state or the art" with close coupling of passenger cars today?  Roco and other European manufacturers have been doing it for many years but I am looking at using kits and modifying cars designed for body mounted knuckle couplers,  My prototype has full diaphragms and I use 30" radius curves.

YouTube Rolling Stock Reviews and Coupler Height

Whether its James Wright, Daniel Cortopassi or a number of others who review mrr rolling stock on YouTube. . . there is one consistency between them all.  When reviewing/checking coupler height, most of the pieces of rolling stock have one or both of the couplers too high or too low.

Scalecoat I

Hi everyone,

I am planning on painting several brass locomotives with Scalecoat I in black, green, and graphite primarily. Do you have any tips or techniques, especially with cleanup? I shoot a Paasche VL and have attached manuf. information to avoid duplication of information.

Thanks ahead of time!

1. Disassemble model completely.

2. Thoroughly clean all parts to be sprayed, using any type of household dish soap such as Dawn™ detergent. Clean and rinse with extremely hot water. Air-dry all parts.
