Locos - Rolling stock (general)
Save or Sell Your Extra Rolling Stock
What do you do with your extra rolling stock?
I find myself with a few extra cars than what I need to operate my paper mill layout.
My last layout was half built before I made the switch to this one. It was going to include an ethanol plant.
- As a result. I have some extra Athearn 30,000G tank cars for ethanol service, and Walthers 67' Trinity 4 bay hoppers for Corn or DDGS.
- I can use a few of the 30,000G tank cars for Tall Oil and Turpentine by-products from the paper mill, but that is about it.

ACF Flexi Flow Hoppers
Eric, I want to thank you for bringing this new product to my attention again. Your reporting and photos from the Amherst show were very well done,....
Rapido Trains displayed a wide range of their models. The ACF Flexi flo hoppers are insanely detailed. Three HO scale versions will be produced.

How Do you clean your rolling stock ?
How do you clean the dust and other stuff that seems to collect on your rolling stock and locomotives while they are on the layout ?
Decals, anyone try making their own using an inkjet printer?
I recently played with making my own decals using paper from Micro Mark on my Canon 600 series inkjet printer. My fiancée is a retired graphic designer/artist and made me some nice artwork. I printed a set on white and clear paper. Once I had the settings adjusted correctly it did a nice job of printing. I then sprayed the sheets with Krylon gloss spray from can per the instructions. After letting the Sheets dry I started cutting out the decals. The first thing that happened was they got little cracks through them and looked like drying mud!
DCC "Throw-pack" : choice of Win10 host "brains"...
Dear MRHers,
Having found myself (unexpectedly) faced with a small fleet of DCC locos,
with a variety of decoders from the major US-manufs,
(and a couple of oddballs, not to mention any "visiting units" that need help)
I'm seriously considering building a custom DCC test/programming rescue toolbox ("throw-pack").
Walthers Mainline Locos
Has any one notice if they set their walthers mainline locos speed to a over 70 mph they get a buzzing noise seems to come from the wheel gears or motor. I've noticed it on many walthers mainline locos. Probably why they gear them to run at 65 mph by default.
