What is your opinion of this model?

Branch line passengers carriages

I am looking for passenger carriages that would be applicable to run on my branch line.

Preferably 1940-1960 sort of era.

My radius on the branch is 18 Degrees and so they need to look the part. The line climbs up into the mountains.

Any suggestions as to where I can order from. Union pacific would be cool, but if not possible then I am open for suggestions.

Tender drive for steam - thinking out loud

Finding a way to fit a motor inside the boiler of a small steam locomotive has been a problem for as long as there have been electric model trains.  I have seen four solutions - make the model bigger, make the motor smaller, put the motor in the tender and run a drive shaft to the locomotive, or make the tender itself a pusher and let the engine roll freely.

Glaze only?

Hi all,

I recently painted/decal a Sunset brass PRR cabin car (N5b).The customer want it finished in an 'egg-shell/semi-gloss' sheen.Has anyone just used Floquil glaze for this? I am asking because I know I could have added it to the paint, after the fact the customer informed me he wanted the semi-gloss look,....

Thanks for any help,Dr Dirt

Starbucks Boxcar

To All: I know! it's not prototypical. My youngest son works at Starbucks (the best coffee around),

so I painted and lettered a car for that company using decals purchased on Ebay. Enjoy.

Southern RR Kaolin Car

To All: I love the unusual. When I spotted the photo of a converted Southern RR boxcar for use

in Kaolin Clay loading,  I decided to model one. Here are the pix  of modeled, then painted

lettered and weathered finished car. The starting point  is a Kurtz Kraft unpainted PS-1 kit

that I assembled. I added coupler cut bars and underframe brake lines and components.  .
