Bachmann On30 4-6-0 query

I'm seriously considering purchasing a Bachmann On30 4-6-0 w/ DCC/Sound. Anyone here have any experience with this engine? How does it run? How does it sound? Etc. It'll likely be running on ME On30 c/83 flextrak with #5 turnouts and 24" to 30" curves, no grades. Any input will be appreciated!

JL&T Railroad Blog - New Rolling Stock & Heavy Loads...

As well as a new series of locomotives I have been giving eBay a hammering too.  I have found some really fantastic vendors that have had pieces that I wanted, and were getting harder to find over here.

So first cab of the rank is a series of six (6) 60' Flat Cars - 3 TTX & 3 Trailer Train.  These have already been put to work hauling some John Deere Graders (Athearn).

JL&T Railroad Blog - New Locomotive to the Roster...

Hi All,

Well this week I finally added a EMD SD40-2 to the JL&T roster.  I have been searching high & low for these and was lucky enough for one to pop up on eBay.

As soon as it was spotted, it was purchased!  There was no way I was letting it go, they are getting to be like rocking horse poop (hard to find).  I have another one Kato - Conrail that is currently being weathered along with another Kato GP35 in RDG paint.

So what are people up to this Memorial Day weekend?

I finally had time and the gumption to get started on a project that I set myself to about a year ago - weathering my rolling stock.

I'm using Walt Huston's method of dullcote, chalk, and more chalk (and I'll dullcote any I think came out a bit too "bright").

I'm using a combination of Bragdon powders and various chalks I picked up on sale at a local craft store.

It's an interesting experience watching the weathering take shape. As for the photo quality... it's my cell phone.

I recently upgraded some HO scale Accurail USRA hoppers. I have posted images and details of the process on by blog to share with other railroad modelers.

installing replacement trucks

I'm looking for some advice...I bought a bunch of old cars at a model railroad auction only to find most were missing their trucks. They're a real mixed bag of different makes but it looks like the majority had the trucks that were fastened in with plastic plugs (not screwed in) or talgo style with the molded on posts. So my question is...do I fill the holes with styrene rod then drill and tap for screws or do I look for trucks with the plastic posts (are they available) Which manu
