Locos - Rolling stock (general)

Why does it have to be so $%#$% difficult?

Why on earth does it have to be so #$%#^$ difficult?

I'm in the process of installing and configuring a couple of locos with DCC and sound. This is something I've done in the past, numerous times, but it's been about a year, and I guess I forgot what a pain in the a#$ it is.

Does it need to be?

Everything in this process is painful, and no where is there sufficient, easy to use documentation.

N Scale Enthusiast Milw Road Spent Grain Box

Hello everyone
N Scale Enthusiast released a Milw Road Spent Grain Box and I wanted to know if someone knew the build date on these models. And how long the prototypes were in service.
Thanks in advance.

Thread truss rods on Roundhouse kits???.....

I have a couple of G&D cars mad by Roundhouse that a dear friend found at a garage sale and sent to me. In perusing the instructions I see that thread is used to simulate the truss rods but I'm not real clear on how it's applied. Does someone have a picture of a finished car or have a better diagram/explanation of what the instructions show?

Michael

What connectors for inside locomotives?

What do you think about using connectors like this for speakers, trucks, etc., inside HO locomotives?

I'm envisioning using these to connect chassis to shells and trucks to chassis. They are standard .1" crimp connectors from Pololu. Is there something smaller I should consider?

UP opens a new intermodal terminal

It's not everyday when a major US railroad opens a state-of-the-art facility. I got lucky the other day when the Union Pacific held a grand opening ceremony for their new Santa Teresa Intermodal Ramp. The new facility will streamline intermodal operations for industry in the El Paso-Juarez region and reduce refueling and inspection time on mainline trains. Here are a couple of UP units and intermodal equipment that were on display at the event.

BLI Blue Line issue

Hi,

I have a problem with my Blue Line SD9 loco (I bought it 5 or 6 years ago). It doesn't run smooth. I found out that there is a mechanical problem. My question is, should I replace all gears or motor too? Which gears should I buy, I mean which producer? I don't won't to replace it back with the same. Their gears are bad, very.

Thanks,

Jure, Slovenia
