A Couple of Completed Cabooses

I've finished final details on a couple of cabeese for my little railroad, come along to see what's new!

AHM Flexi-Flo hopper-FINISHED

https://www.flickr.com/photos/53243414@N00/?details=1

The AHM car is toy that has potential. I'm spent several hours deconstructing the car before I could start building.

I rebuilt the end platforms, removed the vertical side ribs, to small, and did lots of work to improve the body ends.

I'm rebuilding the hopper bottoms which is a chore. Plano has a kit coming out next month, that's what made me

dig this 22 year old project out of the junk box. The side ribs will be replaced with .060 half round that's on order.

Modeling Slugs N Scale

anybody model any N scale slugs?

thinking about tackling this "bash" to have one on the roster

never did a "bash" of this level so it will be a big learning curve surprise

thinking of starting with a burned up atlas loco and modify / order parts as needed

got any ideas or other info that might be helpful?

Advice Needed on Stripping Paint

I have 2 diecast metal engines I want to strip and paint. What is the better approach, alcohol or a soda blaster? My concern is the alcohol reacting with the zinc and causing damage to the loco body.

Better looking headlights for LED-equipped locomotives

I discovered a way to improve the look of headlights on my steam locomotives. It's easy, and pretty cheap.

Removing Walthers Streamliners' roofs

How do one remove the Walthers Streamliner coach roofs without leaving any marks on the side of the roof? I want to detail the interior and add LED lighting, but do not want to damage the roof in the process.

Interlake Vulcanian Railroad

I posted pictures of 2 engines that I had rebuilt in the blog area with a short write up of my experience. I had also posted a picture of the engines on a collectors forum to which I belong. Someone there went absolutely ga-ga over the picture and gave me the following link http://mendotarailmuseum.tripod.com/id29.html. It appears the tender I bought off ebay is quite a collectors item. My plans to strip and repaint this piece of equipment have just permanently gone on hold and it will now end up in a display case.

Rebuilding Aristo-Craft 4-4-2

A little over a year ago I got back into the model railroad hobby and slowly began unpacking my many boxes of trains and accessories. One engine I came across really intrigued me. It was broken and wouldn’t run; the valve gear hanger was damaged. The motor would run until the valve gear bound up and stalled the motor. Not wanting to do any further damage I didn’t force anything too hard.
