Stakes for Bulkhead Flatcars?

Hey guys,

I'm thinking of converting some Atlas Trainman 62' Bulkhead flatcars into telephone pole service (I have no prototype, this is purely freelance). Does anyone know of a detail part or package available that would contain the "stakes" to enclose this car? I know I've seen them before, but I can't recall who makes the detail part.

Oh yes, and would they necessarily fit the width of the Atlas Trainman car?

Thanks in advance!

Matt

Why, just when you need them

So, I am preparing for the upcoming convention and setting up for having some cars judged towards an AP cert.  Two of the cars to be judged are two that you have all seem - the Bamboo Grove and the Camellia from the City of Miami.

So, I go to remove the interior of the Carmellia the car and two of the walls come loose!  While I am reattaching them, the nurse comes loose....

Murphy's law or what?

I got it glued back together and now the interior is in a clear plastic case (from Cotswolds Collectibles - it's a GIJOE storage case).

Safety Information on Locomotives

Howdy MRH forums!

I am attempting my first custom detailed locomotive build and have hit a wall.  On the sides of modern day locomotives there are several information plaques and tags i.e. fire extinguisher inside, caution high voltage, etc.  However I cannot find a common placement guide or what is required by the FRA.  I have compared UP, CSX, NS, BNSF, and several shortlines. All of them are different, and some appear to not have any!  The locomotive is a GP38-2 for my freelance railroad.

Can anyone provide any insight?

Athearn Blue Box GP38-2 truck to frame arcing

I purchased a couple of mixed lots of HO equipment at auction. In this "stuff" there was a GP38-2  dummy and a powered GP50. I wanted the ROCK painted GP38-2. The BN GP50 had no details with it. After some research it appeared I could take the motor and power trucks from the GP50 and put it into the GP38-2.

120 ton SPMW in Daylight paint

HELP!
I hope someone can point me to a pic of a 120 ton SPMW in Daylight paint. I had one, but can't find it. My intention is to use the Gould crane for a small project.

BTW; the "Post category" wouldn't engage for me....

Weathering Powder

Will using weathering powders cause any operational issues if used on the sides of rolling stock wheels?

This would be a very lite amount used to enhance the paint application.

Freight Car Weighting (HO)

In a post on another topic, Mike Confalone mentioned he weights his HO freight cars heavy... along the lines of 10 ounces or more if I recall correctly. I have always over weighted my cars from the NMRA guidelines, but only an ounce or so more depending on car length.

I think everyone would agree that light cars are troublesome. Ever push a string of empty 34' hopper cars through a yard ladder? But I wonder at what point do most feel enough weight has been added.

GP 9 skirting ....

Anyone have good plans or drawings of full skirts on a phase II GP9?  I need information on the size and location of the inspection holes for a 1" scale (1:12) project I've got coming up ...

Needing good trucks--3 axle passenger cars

I have a nice assortment of wooden coaches that call for three axle trucks, and the ones that come with the Roundhouse cars just aren't up to the standard of Kadee trucks that support most of my standard gauge rolling stock.  What are some good options for trucks?
