Scratchbuilding N Scale Freight Cars

Hello there!

I stumbled across MRH a while ago whilst searching for information on model railroads and have since downloaded and read every issue, it is truly an inspiring magazine and - dare I say - the best available from the perspective of a modeler of the American rail scene from outside the USA!

As such I thought I would try to give back to the community who read it and see if I can maybe give someone else a little inspiration too!

Grab iron templates

Are there any mounting templates out there for mounting the grab irons on Bachmann GP7/9, RS-3, or S2/S4?

I've considered getting some of these locomotives but having to guess-the-grab placement is a bit of a deterent.

                               Thanks in advance, Skoti.

HO Atlas Photo-etch Roof Walk?

I've got an unpainted Atlas HO ACF 6 Bay Cylindrical Covered Hopper (3960 cu. ft. Center Flow) that I want to add a better roof walk to.  Does anyone know if I can find a photo-etch replacement roof walk for this model?  I also need a decal set.

cool prototype shot

No real place for railfanning in the forums so I though I would share this winter pic I took of some UP cars headed to the Ford plant in Louisville

need repaint advice

Ok I got a good deal on a bunch of kato emd sd38s. They run great but it looks like they were repainted by a 6 year old with a paint roller. They were UPs when new but now are a sloppy conrail blue. Do any other shells fit these models since kato shells are hard to find

If not what is the best way to strip off this paint and start over?

Thanks

Need ID of GP-7 manufacturer, please.

I found this GP-7 at a train show on the weekend. Did some work on it - running fine. (now)  I'll explain, later.

There is nothing tagged, stamped nor labeled on it, anywhere, that tells me who the manufacturer was.

Can anyone tell me who the manufacturer was, please ?

Thanks,

G.T.

Converting Bachman On30 4-6-0 to On3

I asked last year if On30 loco's could be converted to On3 and the answer was "it depends", and was told to mention the specific model to get a definite answer.

I have for the moment settled on Bachmann's 4-6-0 model.  it is "generic" enough (I hope) that it would seem in place on a eastern narrow gauge (not the EBT, but in that region.

any information or feedback on how this can be done easily would be greatly appreciated.

thanks.
