Gang,

I found this unique tank car at a trainshow today and I am wondering what to do with it. I like it, but I am not sure how long these ran. The USEPA has Publicker Chemical listed as a Superfund site in the mid 1990s and supposedly, the alcohol plant located in Philadelphia was abandoned by the mid 1980s.

What kind of car is this and what is it capable of hauling? This is a neat car being made from aluminum tubing, it has the sheen of a brass car.  So, I doubt I would get rid of it, but repainting it might be an option?  Anyone have suggestions?

Besides the Battle Mountain Ore Cars is anybody using other HO ore cars for On30?  I am curious to know what other On30 modelers are doing.

I have two of these particular Athearn diesels, bought in the mid 1980's and stored for some years. Yes, I know, the original metal used for electrical connections has rusted, a bit.  However, that's not the issue.  The issue is noise.

I just discovered a nearby bottler/distributor of hard liquor - rum, whiskey, etc.  They get several tank cars of product delivered weekly from the looks of things (placard 1170).

They look like general purpose tank cars, but I haven't been able to get a good look because of vehicle traffic when I drive by.

Would these likely be the same type of tank car that's used for denatured ethanol from ethanol plants?

Thinking about modeling a compressed version of this operation on my shelfie.
