Swift reefer - searching a photo

A friendly Hallo to all!

I'm in search on a prototype picture of a wooden Swift reefer of years 1930 or a bit later. This picture is very close to this picture which I took with my new Swift reefer like this.

Best candidates for sound?

I used to know which loco mfg's made really high quality and which ones had some issues. I have been gone so long I no longer have a clue other than I know Kato and Atlas are good and I just bought a BLI SW-7 and it is a very smooth slow running loco also.

Athearn SD 40-2 problems

I have a Athearn SD 40-2 that has a serous electrical problem. When I remove the shell the chassis runs great but as soon as I put the shell on my power supply reads a short. I do not have any metal inside the shell and I have removed the power strip and have soldered jumper wires to the trucks. Can anyone please tell me what to check next?

I have a question about freight cars

I am looking for suggestions on what freight cars would be period correct or what the typical freight car a Santa fe   "Type" 2-10-2 loco would have hauled? I don't think I will care about this all the time, but it would be nice to hook it up to period type cars from time to time. Would I be correct probably 40' wooden type cars, refers maybe? I also would take suggestions for passenger cars if that were also correct, though I would prefer freight cars. Any help offered would be great.

Brass Photo Etching; need advice and recommendations

I'm working on a scratchbuilt rail car that is complex enough that I'll need to make most of it from custom designed etched brass parts.

I'm using ProE CAD to design the components, and I'll be able to output the files in .DRW or .DXF format.

Here's the questions:

Does anyone have experience in this process as a hobbyist, and what vendors would they would recommend that will do small volume work for an individual?  (Versus a commercial production facility)  IE, an etching shop that understands modelers.

Prototype Pictures for practicing Mike Confalone Weathering

First my thanks to Mike for a great series, I am anxious to try out some of his techniques on my HOn3 rolling stock. In the mean time my wife and I just returned from a trip to Alaska and I was able to get a few shots that may inspire someone out there to give Mike's methods a shot.

HO Standard Gauge to On3??

Having moved last Nov, I have been without a layout for just about a year. I had been doing HO standard gauge. A smaller house and RR room gave me the idea of doing an N scale layout. Until I put up a bit of track, laid out some buildings I had on hand and ran a few trains. Completely uninspired. Every time I picked up a RR mag to thumb through or read I kept being drawn to On30 or On3. I have some of each picked up at one sale or another over the years. Impulse buying. We all know what that is right? I have pretty much broken that habit.

Prototype TILX 5000

I found one of these Walthers cars at a trainshow and is was too cheap to pass up... Now, I figured I would strip this this car from it's demonstrator colors and I was hoping to find a prototype photo. Anyone have any? OR Do you even know what it is called or how many cu. ft. it is or whatever? I dunno, maybe the prototype was never ordered?

Annoyed about purchase (and slightly confused)

Ok, so Scale Models - (the company Joe was advertising recently) has offered a 12 container set (53' containers) and I was able to get my order in in time (just barely) and they have 12 different numbers.  The containers are for the company I work for, so they are a must!
