Painting Brick

I am getting ready to build the Walthers Water street Terminal and I really want to take my time and make an exceptional building.  I did a search on the subject  of painting/weathering brick and there is already a ton of info on this forum concerning this. I was just curious if there is a general consensus on what technique works the best? I know that the question is somewhat subjective but I figured I would ask anyhow and see what responses come back. Perhaps there is a new technique out there that is not covered in this forum already.

Frustration - Painting light colors like white and yellow

Dear MRHers,

I've always enjoyed weathering, but hate painting. However, my current structure project(s) are proving to be particularly painful as they involved the color white. I find light colors (white, yellow, and some reds) are always hard to apply, particularly as I don't use an airbrush.
(Is an airbrush a magic-bullet solution for always-good paint coverage?)

Structures In The Ozarks...

This will be a thread for the various structures for my Ozark layout's two themes. The particulars:

*  Contained within a purpose built 16' x 20' (15' x 19' interior) HVAC equipped out-building.

* Utilizes three of the four walls w/small peninsula.

* Is a "partial" dual level: Lower and upper 7-track stage areas, reverse loops for turning trains both levels, and a lower and upper town on the dual level portion, with the ruling grade mountain climb on the single level portion (i.e a "Nolix").

Asphalt surfaces

we've covered this before but I was recently asked to take a few pictures that show close ups of the roads on my layout. Soooooo.......I snapped a few shots to put them all in one thread so they can be searched easily.

Here are two earlier threads that really started the ball rolling on using black 2mm EVA foam. Kathy Millatt also shows the technique in her videos.

Disconnecting and Reconnecting Telegraph/Telephone Wires

I have made my own 1860's era telegraph poles with two insulators on each pole. I have purchased Heavy E-Z Line for the wires. My problem is I need to find a way to disconnect and reconnect the telegraph wires at a module junction in my layout. The modules will not be taken apart often, but occasionally might be taken apart. I saw this same question raised about 3 years ago, but only saw one possible solution. That was to make loops in the wire to be taken off and reattached to the insulators. I'm not sure if this can be done with Heavy E-Z Line.

The "Name That Structure" Game

Okay... I've had this packed away for over 20 years. Probably had it for another 10 years on top of that. Just found it the other day when up in the attic rummaging through my remaining train stuff that's up there.

Do any of you recognize this hand car shed kit, or what part of a larger structure kit this was from?

If I use it, I would need two of them. (Doing a dual era, so one for the late 1880s, and another quite worse for the wear, for my early 1960s era).

The pic...

Where would this be delivered?

Where would a transformer this size be delivered?  I'm wondering if it would be appropriate for a university sized power plant, approximately 20,000 students.  What sort of capacity is it? Would it actually go to a power plant or just a sub-station?

Thanks for your thoughts,

Paul

Anyone ever hear of "Into Details" Kits?

Anyone ever hear of this company?  I've been searching far and wide for a model of this kind of trailer and have had zero luck until this popped up on Ebay recently.  According to the back of the package, their website was www.intodetails.com but that doesn't work anymore. I'm assuming they are out of business, it has been 20 years since the date on the package.  Anyway, just curious if anyone knows anything.  I'd love to get my hands on a second kit.
