How thick is 3mm?

Okay folks, help me out here. Not being a math whiz. I have been looking at the  Brother DX SDX125e craft cutter.

It says it will cut up to 3mm. But how thick is that for us metric challenged modelers? I have tried using online converters to convert mm to inches and still confused.

My question is, will this cutter cut .030 or .040 sheet styrene?

Painting Laser Kits Trim Sheets

An issue that has bothered me for a while now is painting the trim sheet---windows, doors and corner trim. Painting the sheet itself is pretty easy, spray it or use a brush.

The issue is once you start taking the pieces out of the sheet, the edges of the pieces are not painted. Leave them bare? or do a lot of touch up before pulling the backing off, or doing the touch up after applying the parts to the walls.

Anybody have a easy solution to this or have found a way to do this easy or not?

Thanks,   Jack

Bridge deck on Shapeways or similar?

Gang,

I am pretty sure I have asked about this before but I can't find my old post. I'm trying to make an old Atlas girder bridge look just a little more realistic. This required the addition of a new bridge deck. Unfortunately, I made this one just a tad too narrow and had to pull it all apart.

RR crossing stencil??

I’m currently working on some pavement for my layout and need some Railroad Crossing stencils. I can’t find any online and the one link I found doesn’t work.  Does anyone have a link or recommendation where I can find some HO scale crossing stencils for my pavement.

Looking for handrail for this Turntable WAS: Which turntable is this?

I recently purchased a collection with this turntable in it.  It is missing 1/2 a railing for one of the sides and i'm hoping to identify it so I can order a replacement part.  But there is no identifying text on it, and google searches find nothing that matches.  I would think it's a Heljan Turntable, but none of the pictures look like it.  I need help, thanks!

Walther's Bascule Bridge(s)

Walthers Bascule Bridge(s)
I'm considering placing two of these structures side by side for a double mainline to cross a river (my entrance way door). Something like this.....

Static Grass not standing up...

I'm trying to do some static grass for the first time and failing miserably...   I borrowed a NOCH from my club, put in a fresh battery (tried a few different ones) and followed the same method as a few you-tube videos...

The grass just drops onto the glue every which way...   Is there a way to test the applicator?   I put a meter between the alligator clip and the probe in the middle of the bucket, but got nothing, so not sure if that's a valid test...

Other suggestions?

Thanks,   Stephen

Laser cutting design

Looking for information on designing for laser cutting.  I am in O Scale and have a 50 Watt cutter.  I have done some simple buildings but now want to learn to cut and engrave for brick and or stone structures.  Have two books published in the UK but that is all I have found so far.  The other more expensive way would be to buy some kits and see how they are designed.

Thanks

Joe F - Mike Confalone article

Joe,

I saw a wood chip mill in an Allagash RR video and I wonder if you could talk Mike into writing an article on its design and construction.  It looks ideal for a wood chip operation on my RR.

Thanks,

Jeff

Alternative for Foam Tak Glue

I picked up some Woodland Scenics Foam Tack Glue for laying down new foam roadbed and track. It works great, but it is quite expensive for a 12 oz. bottle. Has anyone used a less expensive product (other than latex caulk) that works just as well?

Thanks,

Grampy
